Next week Fallon has U2 on every night, while Ferguson has Metallica. Obviously, if you don't like either act, you won't care. I like both, but neither as much as I once did. Still...

And non-conflicting time slots.

Me, I'll be watching Metallica because it's Craigyferg. It was great when he had Sambora on for a week. Not nearly as much into Metallica as I used to be, but I'll check it out.

And I'm not a U2 fan.

Fallon will kiss Bono's ass.

Ferguson will kick ass.

That's my choice.

Aside from SNL in 1997, has Metallica ever been on Late Night TV?

Metal bands rarely get to play such shows, but it happens more now than before.

Let's remember that November is a sweeps (TV ratings) month.

Yeah - Kimmel seems to book a lot of metal bands, and Letterman's been doing a fair bit. Letterman had Mastodon a short while ago - it was cool to hear the amps humming while Dave was talking.

It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.

Maybe Metallica can make their appearance slightly interesting (but probably not) by performing with holograms of Lou Reed and Cliff Burton and by rearranging material spanning their entire career into a program that could only be described as "Lulu 'em All!"

I'm sure there are plenty of haters, but the interview with James and Lars was funny and the band killed with "Hit The Lights" which was a shocking choice.

They sounded great.

That's one of the things that drives me nuts about Metallica - Lars is pretty much a total douche, but he is funny and well-spoken. Usually a great interview.

I've never been fond of James' live singing. After this many years you'd think he'd manage to find the melody.

The band was pretty tuned in though.
