the sox were due to cool off, they are still playing .631 ball (this from a franchise that has never won 100 games in a season). And the Yanks were not going to continue at a .450 clip either. Sox should win around 95 games, can the Yanks go 63-35 the rest of the way to win 96? maybe.

That's one of my favorite web sites. I was surprised to discover how few franchises have never managed to win 100 games at any point in their history -- only 9 of the 30 teams currently in business, and none of the pre-expansion (1961) franchises.

Of the 14 teams which were created in 1961 or later, the five that have also won 100 or more games in a season (and the 1st time they did it) are: the Diamondbacks (100 games in 1999, their 2nd year!!), the Astros (102 in 1998), the Royals (102 in 1977), the Mets (100 in 1969), and the Mariners (116 in 2001).

Well the Damn Yankees couldn't score a single run in losing to the Damn Mets tonight.

Jimbo - There are 3 1/2 months to go. I don't want to pass out the Sox until the last day of the season - they deserve that. I really want to see another subway World Series. So, as I am not thrilled with losing to the Amazing Mets - to fulfill my wish - they have to win too. (Oh the Damn Yankees win the world series in 4 games)
