Where is Casey Kasem? Judge concerned about radio legend's safety, whereabouts

Radio icon Casey Kasem has gone missing, prompting a judge to order an immediate investigation into his whereabouts.

The order came Monday after a lawyer for Kasem’s wife said he’d been “removed” from the country without warning. Now his kids are counting down the days until his safe return.

“We're going to find him, take care of him and love him," daughter Kerri Kasem vowed in an exclusive interview with the Daily News. "He's going to be with family, not stuck in some unfamiliar place where he's dying alone."

Kerri Kasem is one of three adult kids from a previous marriage who have been battling stepmom Jean Kasem in court over access to their legendary dad.

Casey, 82, suffers from advanced Parkinson's disease, can no longer speak and is fed through a tube, sources told The News.

The "Top 40" legend had been living in a private care facility recently, but it's believed he was released at Jean Kasem’s request last week, Kerri Kasem said.

She suspects her dad might be in Canada because a family source overheard plans to move him to an Indian reservation in Washington, she told The News.

"I'm just praying to God she hasn't hurt him. He's very ill and fragile right now. He would need an airplane with special medical services," the daughter said.

Kerri Kasem said she could only speculate about her stepmom's motivations because they've been estranged for years.

"In my opinion, this is something only someone with severe mental illness would do," she said.

Jean Kasem, 59, had a small role in the 1984 hit movie "Ghostbusters" but is best known for playing the ditzy wife of Nick Tortelli on the hit 80s sitcom "Cheers."

In 1980, she married Casey Kasem, the voice of Shaggy from "Scooby Doo." The wife later banished his adult kids from the house they shared with their daughter Liberty, now 23.

Jean Kasem’s lawyer Craig Marcus had "no comment" when reached by The News.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel Murphy appointed Kerri Kasem as her dad's new temporary conservator. During the hearing, Marcus said he had "no idea" where Casey was.

"Your statements concern me," the judge reportedly told the lawyer.

Marcus claimed in court that Jean Kasem had the right to move her husband as she saw fit, but Kerri Kasem argued the move violates the siblings' legal agreement regarding visitation.

The daughter said she hoped the judge's new conservatorship order would eventually become permanent.

"One part of me is really happy (about the conservatorship), but the other part of me is still really worried," she said.

So now they're all long-distance dedications?

I thought I was the only one who started making tasteless jokes at Mr. Kasem's expense.

Casey Kasem hospitalized after feud between wife and daughter escalates

Casey Kasem was hospitalized Sunday following a dramatic confrontation between his wife and daughter.

The 82-year-old radio icon and his wife, Jean Kasem, were in Washington state when Kerri Kasem, his eldest daughter with ex-wife Linda Meyers, arrived to take him to the hospital. Casey can no longer speak due to Lewy body dementia, and Kerri was granted visitation rights and permission to take him to a doctor by a Kitsap County judge on Friday.

NBC News reports that Kerri's attempt to take her father to the hospital on Sunday was met with violent resistance from Jean. Jean refused to let paramedics in when the ambulance arrived, then threw a pound of raw hamburger meat at her stepdaughter. Medical workers were eventually able to transport Casey safely to a nearby hospital.

"In the name of King David, I threw a piece of raw meat into the street in exchange for my husband to the wild rabid dogs," Jean told NBC after her husband had gone.

Casey has been in Washington since Jean secretly transported him there in May. Kerri saw her father for the first time on Friday, and was reportedly "very, very upset" by his decline in health.
