Perry sounds terrible.

Love the voice, but it's gone.

I watched this the other day and I think you might be a bit harsh, Pete. Considering the guy is 65 and hasn't sung regularly in nearly 20 years, he did an admirable job. Not sure I'd want to hear him again with Journey at this point, and he's certainly a fraction of the singer he used to be, but there's still a quality in his lower register where he sounds like no one other than Steve Perry.

I listened 3 times Rich and I hear a deep, almost husky voice.

I can't go with the "well, he's 65". If you're going out there all I can do is judge what I hear and I don't think it's good. Admirable? I guess.

Daltrey's voice isn't good anymore and neither are a lot of people that age.

Very difficult and it's understandable why Steve retired.

Doesn't change the fact that he's one of the all-time greatest. But, to my ears, this was pretty rough. I've seen many comments on this on FB and elsewhere and I'm not alone.

In the studio, perhaps he can still get it done.

I'm also basing my opinion on the fact that it's a cell phone video and the audio isn't great. I'm sure he doesn't have the range he once did, but if he works on new music in the right key he could still sound like Steve Perry. Robert Plant is my favorite singer of all time and his voice is a fraction of what it used to be. There were several years, mostly in the '90s, where he tried too hard to sing like his younger self & it was painful for me to listen to at time. In recent years he's found a range that works for him and I think he's an overall stronger singer now than he ever was.

It's all relative, of course, and I know what you mean by "if you're going out there all I can do is judge what I hear..." I'd like to hear what he could do with proper preparation as opposed to a one-off during an encore with another band.

Pete - have you heard the Daltrey/Wilko Johnson album yet? Daltrey sounds really good on there.

Far from gone... clearly in the Robert Plant end of the pool, but far from gone.

Yes-in the studio Rog can still sound good. A little gruff, but good.

In cioncert though since around 2006, it's been a different story, although I won't go as far as saying he's hideous. I have found it tough to listen to Rog sing live anymore for the most part.

Every now and then the voice creeps out, but he's really sounding older.

Agree about Roger, he is losing it fast live in concert....one reason why I'm not spending the big bucks for that new live set (but will get Quadrophenia in 5.1).
