I'm surprised Amazon isn't all over this as they already do downloads.

I also just discovered a 3rd legal site, out of Canada:

http://www.prostudiomasters.com/

Pretty similar to HD Tracks & Acoustic Sounds.

Maybe they're waiting for actual facts before doing anything. This guy reveals no source apart from his own assumptions or wishful thinking.

That said ... I'm sure it's inevitable that iTunes and Amazon will offer hi-res sooner or later, and that they'll destroy all the little sites when they do.

For me personally, this is a non-starter. The Blu-ray Audio news from earlier today is the direction I plan to follow. Huge downloads would be such a mess of trouble and hassle for me.

As I've mentioned before, I have too many discs & they take up too much space, so if they can get the sound right I'm all for downloads. + they're the ultimate in instant gratification, & I can no longer play cd's in the car unless I want to scratch the crap out of them.

Unfortunately, afaik, unless I'm willing to store 30 gb Blu ray downloads (I don't see the benefit in most cases), or convert dvd's to an inferior format, that's not an option with movies. My Oppo sees DVD files on a drive as separate files, not as 1 movie (though it is able to play complete blu-ray rips off of a flash or hard drive). I don't know if other stand alone file based players have that issue. I know VLC, which is pc based does not.
