I noticed sometime yesterday that YouTube videos all of a sudden are playing at very low volume on my Windows XP PC. I've spent hours on the internet this morning investigating, no solution so far. The volume with everything else on my PC is fine, CDs, Amazon & AllMusic audio clips. And all my slider levels on everything are maxed out. I don't have a separate Flash Player volume slider on my speaker icon, as Windows 7 gives you, when you right click on the speaker icon down in the lower right corner.

I tried IE and Firefox browsers, the problem is on both. I tried Vevo in addition to YouTube, same problem on both.

So it must be a problem with Flash Player, right? Hopefully it's not related to Windows XP support expiring 2 days ago? I surfed the web for both of these, haven't found anything that helps. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player, no change. Double Dag Nabbit !!

Anyone else having this problem? Thanks in advance...

Check the volume settings on your PC. If the wav volume is set too low, they'll be quieter, even if your system volume is set to max.

Also check the volume on the YouTube player itself.

Ding Ding Ding, that's it, thanks Linda !! (and thanks too Jeff for your suggestion) I don't know how in the world that thing got set way low like that, I never touch it...

Ooops, I think I can guess what happened. I frequently mute the YouTube speaker icon to avoid hearing the obnoxious commercials, I must have accidentally hit the volume slider right beside it somehow. UGH !!

(I have stumbled across a site that brings up YouTube but blocks the commercials from it somehow, need to look that up again...)

Wow, do I feel like a sack of smashed potatoes...

The site is called "run adblock in Chrome or Firefox", for me. :) Haven't seen a YouTube ad in years. Except those little popup ones on top of the video, which there is a filter for too I think, but they don't bother me much.
