Growing up in Tampa, I was well aware of Blues Image. I was too young to see them perform but I heard "Ride Captain Ride" frequently on the radio, and I thought it was so cool that a local group had a big hit like that. I had no idea that Joe Lala was also into acting and voicework.

Rest in peace.

There was a syndicated, Saturday afternoon TV show back in 1970 that used to show these proto-videos. I remember that one, as well as clips for "Montego Bay" and "Which Way You Goin' Billy?" I think the presenters had English accents--could it have been Top Of the Pops or The Old Grey Whistle Test, aired on American TV?
