Just curious how many ICErs might favour a different version of Fleetwood Mac than the Buckingham/Nicks one (which I do expect to win by a landslide -- no pun intended).

I'm just listing the eras roughly as Peter Green's, Danny Kirwan's, Bob Welch's, etc. There was actually some overlap with members lasting through multiple eras, so feel free to clarify your choice in a post.

I'm in for Welch.

I haven't explored their entire discography. I love the first couple of albums, I hate Rumors.

It's a toss-up between Peter Green and Buckingham-Nicks, but since I've known the B-N material longer I gave them my vote. Could've gone either way.

I like almost all of it, but I had to vote for the predictable - especially for "Tusk".

Peter Green.
Really tough choice as I also love Kirwan and Welch, but I think Green at his best was as good as anybody. Spencer became a bit much after a time with the Elmore James stuff but he also nailed quite a few tracks, especially live.

Voted for the Danny Kirwan era. I prefer the pre-Buckingham/Nicks era of Green/Kirwan/Welch over what was to come. I do like the first three B/N albums but feel they became tiresome after that.

Peter Green era with a slight edge over the Christine McVie Era.

B/N, of course, but Welch a distant second.

I voted the Welch era mainly because I have fond memories of hearing "Hypnotized," "Sentimental Lady" and "Heroes Are Hard To Find" on FM radio. I like the Buckingham/Nicks era too, even if it has become a bit over familiar, but I don't think the Buckingham/Nicks era would have ever happened without the Welch era to help pave the way.

I could have also picked 1 or 2; but the first 2 BN albums are era defining.

The one problem with the Green era is Jeremy Spencer. Fortunately he was gone by Then Play On, the PG masterpiece.

The Peter Green era was great, but too short. Geff is right, Then Play On is a masterpiece. The Bob Welch era is very underrated. Mystery to Me is one of the best FM albums, and Heroes Are Hard To Find is nearly as good. Not sure where the Danny Kirwan era ends and the Bob Welch begins, but Future Games and Bare Trees are high points, with both involved.

But I have to go with Buckingham Nicks. Fleetwood Mac and Rumours are two nearly perfect albums, and Tusk is a pretty brilliant refusal to continue to follow that blueprint. I've heard those things way too many times, but I'm still not tired of them.

It'll always be the Peter Green Era for me though I have to say that the Kirwan/Spencer and Welch Eras have their magic moments. As it concerns Buckingham/Nicks, I think the person I concentrate on most is the beloved Christine McVie. She ranks high among people with whom I consider to be unappreciated. I've heard so much Stevie Nicks on the radio over the years that I've actually gotten a little mean-spirited towards her. I keep saying to no one in particular when I drive around that she still sounds like a chipmunk on downers to me when her Era of tracks comes on. And to those of you who are fans of Stevie Nicks, I do apologize and I mean it.

I really like early Stevie (her later stuff (from about her 3rd or 4th solo album on) hasn't aged well for me.

That said, one of my friends used to joke that she sounded like a sheep.
