I have had a lot of trouble getting into the IMWAN site lately -- the title page comes up, then the usual page, but with no content showing. I try to log in, with no result -- it just bounces back to the login form. Is this just on my end, or has the site been down a lot lately?

The site has not been down at all. Usually it's a case of having to delete cache and cookies from your web browser when that happens.

It's been ok for me.

every once in a while when i got to my bookmarks to login it takes me to a really weird page with a whole bunch of different sites to log in to, i usually get here when i have to do that, but in a roundabout way.

Virus. Question is it is embedded here, or on your pc?

There is no virus embedded in IMWAN. It's more likely that you have the same virus (if it's a virus) at home and school, because you visit similar sites both places. The question is, what are your bookmarks (local or do you have a web portal like Yahoo that you keep them on) and what is the url your bookmark is pointing toward?

You need some penicillin.

There is redirect code showing up all over the internet. As Jeff says, there are also pc based viruses doing the same. One solution for the drive bys is to use Firefox with No Script. It defeats it pretty close to 100%. I have No Script turned off for Imwan so I can see Linda's Amazon adds. If i run into much more, i would turn it back on, but so far I've only experienced it here on that one video.

IMWAN is so clean, you could eat off of it.

What sites are you frequenting? I've never once run into anything like that which didn't involve an untrusted site attempting to get you to click something to trick you to install malware. If a major site gets hit with something, it's usually caught within minutes, an hour tops, and doesn't linger. It can't get "reinjected", because what allowed it to happen was bad security practices which get corrected or software vulnerability bugs being exploited, which are quickly patched.

I'm mostly personally seeing it on Eastern European sites. Fortunately I have the brains to not click on the install links.

Part of why I suspect it's not my pc (at least in my case) is the one time it happened here was on the very popular Miley Cyrus fake nude video, which would be an ideal target for so many reasons (& wasn't hosted here). I've never been redirected, I just see the install this or that popups more the last 6 months than ever before.

I'm glad to hear the site is OK. I'm just confused about what's happening for me, because I'm getting the same problem on three different CPUs, all Macs -- my iMac at home, my iBook, and my Mac Pro at work. What I get is the basic site framework with no content at all. It lets me enter my login and password, but then just reverts to empty boxes when I enter it.

Greg, Jeff & Linda likely both know a lot more than me on this one (I'm not a Mac person for one).

2 questions: Is it only occurring on Imwan? Has there been a recent Mac security update that could impact how Macs render some web pages?

Have you tried a different browser, Greg? Firefox is a pretty easy run on the Mac - no installation necessary.

Greg, I would like to get some identifying information for your connections/devices at each location where you're experiencing these problems to see if there's some change we might need to make at the server end, so let's continue this in PM and I'm going to close the thread.
