anyone.....anyone...anyone Although I know most of it in my head, places I use when I forget are Wikipedia (always look at discographies for this-but remember, some people get stuff very wrong. I've corrected many things over the years because it pisses me off!). Billboard.com is a mess, but is also a good source sometimes. Buying any of the Joel Whitburn books is the ultimate way and recordresearch.com is where to go.

Renny, if you're looking for info on a specific album sometimes it can be found on the album's Wikipedia page. Of course, information on that site can run from excellent to questionable, so proceed with caution. Maybe someone out there knows a web site that's a little more comprehensive and reliable.
EDIT: IP beat me to the punch!

Renny...I'm not sure if you got the address wrong or if I'm missing something, but adding an "i" to your site comes up with a website that's UK based. Is that what you wanted?

Is that what you wanted? yes, i left out an "i" and yes, it is UK based, and no, it is not what i wanted, and i am having a hell of a time finding this. just a simple how high an album got on the U.S. charts....i thought it would be everywhere......it's obviously not. i just want my students to be able to type in a band name and their discography and see where each album charted.

Wikipedia is a decent choice for this, and it's free. Depending on the artist, it might contain mistakes in the chart data or even omit that data altogether. The Record Research site that Pete mentioned maintains an online archive at this URL: http://www.musicarchivevault.comIt can do exactly what you want, but it's not free, and I don't know what their rules are for one membership being used for access by an entire classroom.
