Former FREHLEY'S COMET vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist Tod Howarth has posted the following message on Facebook:
"Got a call from my old band member John Regan from Frehley's Comet last Thursday. He's still playing bass for PETER FRAMPTON - great to hear from him, so we went to the Framton/YES concert last night and met up with John and Peter after the show. A great perfomance!
And wants the Comet to do a re-union tour as well.....ACE??"
The following is Tod's response to the fan feedback to the above posting:
"Wow great responses all...I will try to catch up to most all here! John and I were talking and thought, 'You know it would be great to do the Comet re-union...if we could just get Ace to consider it. The time is right!"
Frehley's Comet's debut was released in 1987 and reached the US Billboard Charts at #43. The album also featured drummer Anton Fig, noted for his work in David Letterman's house band, the CBS ORCHESTRA. Second Sighting (1988) and Live+1 (1988) followed.

I could see it, but I don't know that it would be that big a draw. After all, they dropped the band name by what, the third album? I don't think it's going to move Ace's shows from the clubs to arenas - more like clubs to slightly larger clubs. Not sure that there's a lot of financial incentive for him to do it.

TMD unearths a never before released or circulated demo entitled “Mistake” by legendary rockers KISS. The song is a straight up country and western ballad, featuring acoustic guitars, bottleneck slides and an overall sound more along the lines of WICKED LESTER than even an acoustic gem like “Hard Luck Woman”. It is believed this rare track was recorded at the same sessions as “Rock And Roll All Nite” in 1975. As it stands it is the earliest demo for an unreleased KISS song known to exist!
Here ya go Chris-it's a really good song actually and quite Country! Could be Wicked Lester-tough to say, but it ain't Ace on pedal steel! But I think it's KISS and it's got some great Stones-ish qualities and a good solo that sounds like Ace to me with some subtle differences. KISS fans are digging the song since it was leaked yesterday. I love the chorus.

Not bad. KISS could be chameleon-like at times when it came to writing. Yes, they were mainly rockers, but they could adapt their style to pop, semi-disco and this country flavored song.
I wish KISS would put out archival releases with demos, unreleased album tracks, etc.
But of course, we'll probably get another compilation instead.
Give Gene credit-he tells it like it is, and it's hard to argue with much of what he says (though he should've ripped the RIAA as well as downloaders for destroying the industry) . From Blabbermouth.net (an excerpt of an interview with the Herald Sun in Australia):
On why there is no new KISS album:
"There's no new KISS material because there's no record industry.
"Any band who tries to do new material is trying to climb a slippery mountain. Every day record companies are folding. It'd be nice to have new KISS songs, but what's the business model? Do you just put songs on the Internet for free? Then what?''
On people who download music illegally:
"They're crooks. I would have sued the very first one and the very last one. As soon as you take somebody's property, that's stealing. People say to me 'You're rich, you have enough money'. It's actually not for anyone to decide that. I'll let you know when I'm too rich. The last time I checked, what we do isn't called charity, it's called the music business.
"Here we are today with exactly what I said would happen happening. The very same people that love the music the most have slit its throat and they're surprised it's dying. 'How come my new band can't get a shot?' 'Cos you killed it, bitch.
"Every day college kids who probably love music more than anybody are the same people slashing the record industry's throat by file sharing and downloading. It's the saddest thing for new bands. Doesn't affect me or KISS. We can continue to play stadiums and do very well, and we release DVDs.
"But there isn't a chance for a new band to become the next BEATLES or KISS because there isn't the infrastructure to do it."
And he wouldn't be Gene Simmons if he didn't contradict himself later. Sonic Boom.......

To be fair, though, Simmons et al didn't release Sonic Boom until they had an alternate business model in place -- specifically, going the retailer-exclusive route with Wal-Mart.
What would be the point, except to help the other guys? Ace's name is his mos marketable item, not the Comet name.

Didn't Gene also say there was no market for new Kiss material? Or was that Paul? Sometimes I get the quotes confused.
Alan
I believe they both did at some point. That's one of the joys of being a KISS fan, knowing that whatever Gene and Paul say now, they'll contradict themselves somewhere down the line.
In the early '90s, their response to a reunion of the original band in makeup was "that would be like going back to high school. We have no interest in going backwards," which translated, means "We haven't seen the $$$$ yet."
Anyone catch KISSETERIA on A&E this past week? Interesting documentary about KISS getting together to do their 35th Anniversary tour starting in Australia. You get to see a few behind the scenes stuff.
It will be re-broadcast on July 24th.

Although it was clearly staged to look off-the-cuff, I found it really enjoyable. Great footage behind the scenes.
When did Paul start wearing the Destroyer outfit again?
