Another excellent engineer that speaks to my question about Hoffman in the AF thread. Why didn't he have a cult following?

Oh my, I love George Marino. What terrible sad sad news. I have hundreds of his work in my collection, as we all do. He's been around forever.

But you are right James, why didn't he get the respect he deserves? I just omitted him myself in my AF posting earler. I guess we took him for granted, I know I did.

Again, because he was always there. That has toe b it, but it doesn't make it right. Did great job with Jimi Page and the Zep CDs and countless others. Just his work on the Atlantic label alone speaks volumes.

God Bless you George, I will rock with you until my end.

Rick A.

Wow I'm shocked. I'm upstate on a golf trip and just checked in to the Internet with an iiPad. I met George a few years ago when he was remastering KISS Alive albums and he was a great host and really nice guy. He loved music as much as we do.

I'm really bummed. RIP George. :(

Very sad to hear this. He has done some great work, particularly on the Led Zep catalogue with Jimmy Page.

John was regaling me with his story of meeting Mr. Marino while he was remastering KISS's Alive II for the boxset and even got to hold the master tape box in his hands.

John, you should repost that picture and a picture of Mr. Marino as well if you have one.

Here's one I found:
