yes, sad indeed. I got to see Michael with the Doobie Brothers a number of times. It won't be the same when I see the Doobie Brothers later this month knowing that Big Mike will not be coming back to handle the drums.... In January the Doobies had put out a note saying he was doing better....

I knew he was the original drummer, but I was unaware that he returned to the band after they reunited in the late '80s. He was also a Vietnam vet. It's sad to see someone who served both their country and music fans die so young, but at least Mr. Hossack is at peace now.

Yes, Mike rejoined the band in the late 80's for the reunion and continued on as their drummer until his health forced him to stop touring in 2010. He did play the drums on the Doobies latest CD World gone Crazy which came out in 2010...
