For those staying home (like me), ABC will be airing 2 hours of musical performances from the last 40 years of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, starting at 8PM EST. Should be an interesting history lesson.

Happy New Year, one and all.
Even if the jig is up in 2012, we have until December 21st, or so I'm told.
I wrote to Dave Clark and asked him if he thinks he might be able to officially release the original DC5 albums on CD by then. I have yet to receive a reply.

I don't post often, but visit daily. Got on board with Pete Howard in the late '80s, when ICE was a newsletter, tri-folded and delivered in a legal-sized envelope. Happy New Year, everyone.

I'm hoping for a somewhat less tumultuous 2012. Some things were good about 2011, some not. I'm hoping that things go favorably this year. My son graduates from high school, which means I'm old. My wife and I will hit our 25th anniversary if she doesn't come to her senses first (note - refill the chloroform dispenser!), which means I'm old. Had dinner with some old friends last night - we all used to work at a Murphy's Mart store in our teens and early 20s. They got old, which means I'm old.

Happy New Year folks!
First off thanks to Linda for keep the place organized in a nice way and thanks to all of ya for some great exchanges over the last year.
What am I looking forward to? More inexpensive discs to pad out my collection be they those Sony/BMG 3 or 5 album classics sets or Music Clubs collections both of which have helped those of us who just want 'the music' to get to hear more without breaking the bank.
The announced upcoming Mofi titles while being at the opposite end to the budget stuff as re-issues go have been the most rewarding in terms of sound quality and well packaged to boot. Rob and Shawn sure are on a roll at Mofi.
Finally what this place is great for: simple no holds bar talk about the music without getting bogged down into waveform analyzing, kowtowing to others egos or commercial interests and other stuff that puts you off.

yep, thats a common theme as each year passes by quicker and quicker, we're getting old, real old. I'll turn 52 this year, thats crazy!

I'm hoping 2012 gets safer and a bit quieter for us in law enforcement. We lost a few cops this past year and lost an ATF agent based out of this area yesterday in a shooting at a pharmacy robbery. I was one of the responding officers to that terrible scene. He was picking up a script for his 81 year old father when he got in the middle of the robbery. He was 51 years old with a wife and 2 kids. RIP Agent Capano.

John G,

I'm truly sorry for the loss of your comrades. Most of us here in Nassau appreciate the great job you guys do, and recognize your extraordinary service.
My wife and step-daughter had been in that pharmacy just the day before.
Happy and safe New Year to all you guys.

What's worse is his daughter goes to my daughters high school and she does know her. :(

Other than the very bad things that were happening on Nassau's streets yesterday, I did have some good news in my bank account. Money owed to me by the county from a few years ago (they love to defer money into the future) showed up in my checking account all of a sudden! :D

$3K!!! Now I can pay off my daughters Sweet 16 party and have some left over for the new iPhone and a very nice dinner out this week. :)

Big story here is we just lost a park ranger last night (young female with 2 children, pillar of the community) due to some nut case survivalist iraq vet who should have never been in the military in the first place. FBI currently has a massive manhunt on (150 officers for 1 person).

I heard about that this morning. Its been a bad year for law enforcement as deaths are way up. Lots of guns out there and messed up people everywhere.
