Just ordered my tickets for Rush in Seattle (Sep) and now I see Blue Oyster Cult will be in Tacoma in August.

Rob Zombie/Megadeth/Lacuna Coil tom'w. I'm a game time decision - if the weather's good, I'm likely to go. The forecast is for scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. If that happens, I'm heading home - I want to see the show, but not three-four hours standing in the rain want to see it.

Better news - August 23, Lamb of God and DETHKLOK! That's a definite for me.

Added Creedence Clearwater Revisited for this Saturday night. Never saw them before and they seem to get very good reviews. I already know that we love the songs so...

Fairly inexpensive for great floor seats and an excuse to take the half hour drive down to Primm on the Nevada/California border!

looks like I get to see Van Halen again. among their added dates close for me are Sept 15th in Oklahoma City and Sept 17th in Wichita, Kansas. Only draw back is I am supposed to see Heart on Sept 15th in Tulsa. I guess I will have to decide again as to which show is more inportant...

Picked up tickets for the wife to see Florence and the Machine at Jones Beach NY this September. She is a big fan.

Well, Van Halen has postponed their last 31 dates that were just announced. I guess my decision for Sept 15th has been made. I will be at the Heart show on the 15th....

Lacuna Coil was very good last night - the volume could have been louder, and perhaps a slightly clearer mix, but very good. Christina Scabbia - yes, ma'am! I'd seen pictures before, but in person, she has a certain charisma.

Megadeth - seemed to be a very good performance. I think the sound was mixed by someone who a) hates music; b) hates Megadeth; or c) is Beethoven. I have no reason to doubt that Dave Mustaine was singing, because every now and then words would come through. But a horribly muddy mix save for about 3 songs. The kick drum was overpowering in the mix, and the bass as well at times. Mustaine was very gracious to the crowd without, twice taking time to walk end to end on the stage to express his thanks.

Rob Zombie - awesome show. None of the sound issues that affected the other two. Tons of video, although I couldn't see the main screen from where I was. Zombie worked the crowd well, and delivered new twists on some of the tired frontman cliches. John 5 - what a player. If they ever find a style of music he can't play, I'll be surprised. He looked like he enjoyed this whole deal a lot more than when I saw him with Marilyn Manson years ago. The same for Ginger Fish. But John 5 was very animated.

4.5 hours of standing, though - and it's not relaxed standing. I'm not Smiff-like in terms of head-ground separation, so I'm constantly stretching and leaning to see at these kinds of shows. By the time it was done, when I tried to jog/run a bit to the car, I found my legs didn't bend the way they should. And the crowd? Well, let's just say there appears to be a shortage of mirrors in these parts, because these people couldn't have looked at themselves and said, "Yeah, that's it!"

Next up - Tommy Emmanuel. Just got my ticket today, although afterwards I found out it was the same day as my son's NHS ceremony. But he's a senior, so he should get his sash and stuff early, which will get me out in time to race to the show and hopefully arrive within 10-15 minutes of the start. I hate to be that guy, but we've long told our children that athletics get all the attention, so any time academics is rewarded and they're involved, we will be there.

Just did a count of all the tickets I have to shows this Summer and into the early Fall and it's 12! And that's not counting Florence and the Machine which I just bought or The Musical Box in NYC doing The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

Now should I see Linkin Park who are also playing at Jones Beach? :D

Another one I was tempted by was STP at the Paramount in our backyard in Huntington but we will be in the Outer Banks that week.

Steve Vai announced here in September - I'll likely be going to that one.

Just got back from seeing Tommy Emmanuel in person for the first time. Good god, what a player - and what a showman. He had the crowd eating out of his hand. His Beatles medley is awesome (a few different songs this time), plus some other highlights like "Guitar Boogie Shuffle", "Classical Gas", "Angelina" and "I Still Can't Say Goodbye". Great Chet Atkins story, too.

At the merch table, I picked up a DVD, a T-shirt and an instructional CD-ROM. I suspect the last item just has him blowing raspberries and saying, "Seriously - you thought you could do this?"

Tonight we're heading down to Fremont Street Experience to see a free Duran Duran cover band - THE REFLEX.

Saturday it's the annual Vegas JuneFest at the SouthPoint, this year featuring:

Eddie Money
The Commodores
The Romantics

Tickets were $10 when I bought them!
