He's been horrible.......no big deal. He must be to injure himself by (presumably) jumping up and down.

Sad day for me. Seems Bill Maher is now a limited partner of the NY Mets.
For the first time since 1968, I will not be buying any Mets tickets or merchandise.
When he's gone, I'll be back.

Phil Hughes(!) outdueled Verlander, pitching a complete game as the Yanks beat the Tigers 5-1.
Saturday night's 4-3 loss was less satisfying, however. Yanks ongoing failure to get hits with the bases loaded cost them big.

The Yankees haven't won a game in which they've not hit a home run.

You wouldn't be willing to give up one of the relievers you were cursing tonight for Henry Rodriguez, would you? He can throw 100 MPH, but he's also a head case and we Nats fans are getting tired of him. I hear New York has more shrinks than L.A., maybe YOU can do something with him that we can't.

It won't be the first time I have seen a baseball game at Fenway Park, but the last time I went Mo Vaughn was playing for (what was then known as) the California Angels, and the prospect of major league baseball returning to D.C. seemed as remote as a black man elected President.
So I will be able to pay homage to the place where the last Senators manager made a legend for himself...

btw....nice win for the Mets today (3-1) after three losses to Washington, they needed this one and RA Dickey comes through with his NL Leading 9th win!! Mets are in a tough stretch right now (Yankees coming up) and while they are obviously over reaching, its been fun to see them actually rise to a tie for 1st Place this past week. They are getting great starting pitching and timely hitting but they are a team full of holes (hello bullpen) but what a scrappy bunch. In 2 weeks if they are still in sight of Washington, then we shall have a nice summer in Queens. So far so good.

Someone on the board is happy tonight... Quote: Mariners 6-pack combines for no-hitter vs. Dodgers SEATTLE (AP) -- Kevin Millwood and five Seattle relievers combined on a no-hitter, the third in franchise history, and the Mariners beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 on Friday night. The no-hitter was the fourth in the majors this season, joining gems pitched by the Angels' Jered Weaver , the Mets' Johan Santana and White Sox right-hander Philip Humber , who threw a perfect game at Seattle in April. But this one was clearly the least conventional. Millwood was cruising through six innings, giving up just one walk. But while warming up for the seventh he felt a twinge in his groin and was pulled from the game. Five relievers combined to finish the no-hitter, capped by Tom Wilhelmsen retiring Andre Ethier on a routine grounder to end it.

CRAP I missed the game. I had someone over doing fix-it house repair.
Amongst other things, I thought my cat had broken my furnace earlier today (true & long story). Thank God it turned out the cat had just flipped a breaker/fuse.
& yes, it really was the cat, my b&w avatar (the boy) makes all of my previous human girl friends (even the drunk ones) look low maintenance by comparison!
I'll be amazed if a contender doesn't pick up Milwood before the deadline.

Ahhh… there really aren't too many things in baseball that I like better than seeing the opposition having to field a five-man infield, and our guy still managing to get a game-winning single through it.

Fox will be broadcasting a bunch of regional games tonight. Yanks-Mets kick off @ 7:15.
Cano hit 2 HRS last night, looks like he's really heating up.

Great game at Fenway. That park has changed a lot the last time I saw it. Also, it was a stroke of genius to design the HD scoreboard in center to make every Stat look like it was posted on an extension of the famous Green Monster scoreboard.

Santana looked pooped last night and no doubt since he's pitched to the Ninth inning during his previous 2 starts (one of them a no-no). So last night was not unexpected. And this Subway Series which was once fun has just turned into an annoyance as the AAA Mets have to play against the $200M Yankees 6 times a year. Hasn't been a fair fight in a very long time.

JohnG, the Mets are NOT a AAA team because you're in a tight race with us and WE aren't a AAA team. When the Yankees come to Nats Town, we expect to prove it.
