Darvish's addition to the list of available starting pitchers has been the focus of much speculation in recent weeks, and it now appears he and his parent club are moving one step closer to turning rumor into reality. Once the posting is made, Major League clubs interested in Darvish will submit sealed offers to the Ham Fighters. MLB.com really needs a better editor or something. In Japan, teams are named after corporations, not cities. The name of the team is the Fighters, they are owned by Nippon Ham. There is no such thing as a Ham Fighter. For some reason, fact-checking has never been an intregal facet of the craft of sportswriting.

That Pujols contract is insane! 10 years for a guy who is at least 31 (and quite possibly older)? And a big guy at that. Apparently the Angels weren't paying attention to the ARod contract and how that is working out.

I wish Albert Pujols well in Anaheim. Or should the "w" in that third word be an "h"? Nah... I'm actually happy that StL won't be hamstrung by the second half of that ridiculous 10-year contract. Just wish he'd bolted in time for the Redbirds to pursue Mark Buehrle...

Just as the Yomuiri (think Japanese equivalent of "The Tribune Company") Giants is also known as the Tokyo Giants, I'll bet the Nippon Ham Fighters are also known as the Hokkaido Fighters.

It seems Anaheim/LA/Mexico City wants to win NOW. It may be that the Mexican owner is so wealthy the $'s don't matter to him. Between the Rangers filing bankruptcy & THEN going on a spending spree (wish I could do that!) & Anaheim my cheapskate Mariners are screwed.

You can make a case for signing Pujols, even if it is for a ridiculous 10 years $254 mil. You can not make a credible case for signing a scrub like CJ Wilson for 5 years at $77.5 million. Over $15 million a year for a supposed "ace" of the Rangers staff who went 0 for 2011 for the Rangers in the post season. I'm glad they took him and the Rangers didn't waste any money on him.

Albert will certainly make the Angels dangerous in the playoffs next season, if they make the playoffs.

From what I've heard, it's not a coincidence the Angels signed Pujols less than a week after Magic Johnson said he was joining an ownership group to buy the Dodgers.

The Angels and Fox are working on a 20 year television deal. It is reportedly worth 3 billion dollars, or 150 million a year.

Ryan Braun tests positive for enhanced testosterone levels during the play-offs. They were found to be synthetic. He faces a 50 game suspension. He says he did nothing wrong and will fight it.

If you think numbers went down when steroid testing was implemented, wait until they start testing for HGH. I wasn't surprised that Manny tested positive because he's an idiot. But I'm shocked about Braun. He must be dumber than dirt.

One that hasn't been brought up much, but I consider exhibit #1: Adrian Beltre His last year with the Dodgers (his mvp year) was the last year before steroid testing. Hos post Dodgers career (until 2011) grotesquely overpaid for the amount of production.

Braun's people are saying that he tested positive for a banned substance, not a performance enhancer.
