So is everyone enjoying 24 this season? Just watched the current episode and things are moving along nicely. Time to unleash Jack on the world! :D

Oh yeah, I'm loving 24's return! They need Jack! Hell, WE need Jack!

Absolutely! Loving the return. Especially the 12-hour format - much fewer dead spots. And presumably no Kim/wild animal conflicts.

Yvonne Strahovski is knocking it out of the park, too. And William Devane fell right back into this role.

Very pleased so far.

Last week's episode, I was laughing out loud when the Marines (who are responsible for security at the embassy) were preparing to blow the door to the office where Jack had taken hostages, but the CIA agent knew about the convenient, human-sized air duct that she could use to sneak into the room.

I always enter a room thru the air ducts. A quicker way to travel. :D

But...the Marines talked about the air duct! That's how Kate found out!

I chuckled every time someone said, "Send it to my phone." Shades of "download it to my PDA..."!

My favorite line and is probably a drinking game at colleges is 'people are gonna die', they say that 10x a show.

The Cat Stevens segment was wonderful, he was a fave of mine and my peers in the early 70s. Shame that KISS did not play but their speeches were fine and they deserve the honor.
Love the Linda speech by Glen Frey and the singing by the girl contingent led by Emmylou.
And of course one of my all time favs....Mr Peter Gabriel. Never miss a Gabriel tour and loved loved his first 4 albums.....then the rest of the world discovered him. :)

Yep they sounded wonderful. Carrie really impressed me. And I love Waddy Wachtel. I turned off the show right after Cat Stevens because of the hour but will continue to watch later today.

And have it at the Barclays actually worked despite the size, looks great on TV.

Up to the part where Hall & Oates come on. Daryl makes a good point, where are all the other Philly artists?

Watched the induction today reading the paper.

Highlights:

- Chris Martin's speech for Peter Gabriel
- Tom Morello's speech for Kiss
- Hall and...OATES!
- The Ronstadt tribute. And it really showed what a great singer Linda is.
- Yusef Islam. And I can't say I'm a big fan, but he showed nothing but class during his speech and performance.

Another highlight - recording it so I could FF through the Springsteen stuff. It seemed interminable even then.

The Courtney Love thing seemed really contrived to me, particularly the hug with Dave Grohl. After she called everybody in Nirvana "Brother..." and ended with "Mr. Grohl". Good on Grohl for being classy. And damn, does that guy put just about every inch of his soul into his performances or what? I was a bit surprised - I thought Lorde worked the best of the Nirvana singers

Kiss's non-performance was a definite low-light. I'm just now reading an interview with Ace in the new Guitar World, and he nails it

Quote:
I was like, Jesus Christ, after 40 years of support you can't give the fans 10 minutes?

Loved Daryl Hall's callout on the overlooked Philly artists.

KISS not performing something, even without the makeup was a mistake but Tom Morello's speech was great.
I sat through all the E Street speeches and did enjoy them. They deserve their moment in the spotlight as they did define his sound.
As Little Steven said to Bruce one evening 16 years ago, the E Street band is the legend, not just Bruce Springsteen.

Too bad Clarence and Danny couldn't be around for the induction. :(

Season 2 of Orange Is The New Black is glorious.

No spoilers, but I'm happy they addressed the one minor problem I had with the first season in that everything had to be about Piper. This year it's much more of an ensemble show with Piper being completely not involved with the major season long plot. Instead, they gave her a season long B-plot which gave the show just the right amount of Piper without insisting her into story lines where she clearly does not belong.

I really liked the Cosmos reboot on Fox this past Sunday. Even the animated bit, which could've come across as cheesy, was very effective. While the original series was groundbreaking back in 1980, now you can see this material covered, every day, on any number of cable channels. I'll be watching for the remaining 12 weeks, nonetheless.

Out on Blu-Ray/DVD this week. Barnes & Noble is running a deal - 40% off all Blu-Rays (list price, of course). Add my 10% member discount and a 20% coupon, and I got this for $27 after tax.

Looking forward to The Strain on FX starting July 13th. Great pedigree behind this one.

Just saw the final episode of Fargo on FX and wow! what a great series. It's been green lighted for another season with a new story/ characters. The cast should get some awards.
