This was Meatloaf's performance at the Australian Rules Football Grand Final today.

I know he's not young any more....but I think he blew it, here. In front of an entire nation. I'm a fan of his stuff, but he just seems to be barely able to go the distance.

Opinions?

I'm guessing there were some monitor issues. "Hot Patootie" was really pretty bad, but "You Took The Words..." improved considerably - and Meat had the in-ear monitors out. In "I Would Do Anything For Love" he sounds like someone who can't hear the band - way out of tune. His pitch seems to be all over the place and he's straining on the high notes. Still, I'd like to see some other recent performances before saying he's done.

I'd still like to see him show up to sing "Street Rats", "Hammerdown" and "Together" with Nugent.

I missed Meat Loaf, but I liked the gal who sang the Aussie national anthem. I watched a little bit of the game. I've become somewhat of a fan since my boss and co-workers are all Australian and play footie weekly, and know people in the Grand Final.

It's a really fun game to watch as well as play. It's like soccer if people actually scored regularly. Like basketball on grass, almost. :)
