In comics we have Stan Lee, the man credited with creating the Marvel universe of characters and, more importantly, creating the character "Stan Lee". Since leaving his writing and editorial duties, he's made a career of attaching his name to various projects, selling the Stan Lee brand. He's partnered with the Backstreet Boys, MTV, the NHL, a Japanese pop star, Richard Branson, etc., etc., etc...
Is there a version of this in the music industry? Someone who ruled the industry for a decade or two and then made a living by putting their brand on the musical endeavors of others?
