i don't think this has been discussed yet, but if it has sorry for the duplication.

the event - not bad - we are giving it more time
lone star - nice premise, no major stars, death time slot, won't last long
chase - horrible, already deleted from the DVR.
defenders - has boston legal potential, giving it more time
whole truth - DVR'd, not watched yet
big C - wife likes it, i don't. wife will watch, i'll be on the computer or in bed alone
boardwalk empire - DVR'd, not watched yet
blue bloods - selleck will draw older women

My wife watched The Event while I was at work. She said it was good but you have to pay close attention due to the multiple characters and how the story jumps around in time. I'll have to check it out on our "on demand" channel when I'm off later this week.

I thought The Event was just a cool 24-style thriller, but the bit at the end with the plane really came out of left field. I'll watch again just to see how they handle the WTF-ness of it.

Boardwalk Empire. Awesome.

Haven't had a chance to watch everything else that I've DVR'd.

I don't have the time to watch that I used to.

Thought the pilot episode of "Lone Star" was great; I was hooked in 10 minutes. A shame it didn't pull a bigger audience. I expect tonight's or next week's episode will be its last. But I'd be willing to buy a DVD set of the series to see all the un-aired episodes. Also giving the new "Hawaii Five-O" a few weeks to see if it's a keeper. Liked Scott Caan; hope the show will settle in nicely from the too-busy opener, now that they've established the premise. Only other new show I've tried was "Raising Hope," which was excruciating. Turned that one off — forever — after 15 minutes.

I watched Undercovers but I was underwhelmed. Not one of JJ Abrams' finest.

Still want to watch No Ordinary Family.

The last TV show I'd watch on the networks was Sanford and Son - on cable it was Tales From the Crypt...

They just don't make em like Amos N Andy, Phil Silvers, the Honeymooners or the Twilight Zone anymore...

I liked the first episode of Hawaii Five-0.

That they would even choose to do a remake of Hawaii Five-O shows you just how sad network TV is.

'Outsourced' - don't even bother

Not funny, and the concept really hits a lot of raw nerves in the current economy

"Mike & Molly" doesn't feel like it's quite hit its full stride, but it's been pretty good so far. Some funny moments in the first two eps.

No interest in "Outsourced" - unless I get paid OT for it, because I see that at work every day.

I guess the networks believe they're being clever doing shows that are "relevant" to the current economic situation but I think it will backfire. A woman I know who is usually a big fan of The Apprentice is staying away this season because the contestants are all people who are down on their luck, and she's afraid the show is going to exploit their situations. You just know there will be a lot of tearful stories told while sad music plays in the background.

Ultimately people watch TV to escape from current problems, not to wallow in them.

speaking of sad music playing in the background, anyone else notice the current trend of playing a song in a minor key (with vocals) at the end of the show. seems to be happening more and more.

More to your point, I think there's a lot of laziness when it comes to soundtracking TV shows, but I do appreciate what it can do for an artist's career.

Oh yeah. I've noticed this on House and some of the cop shows. I think the trend started (or at least was popularized) by the slow cover version of Tears for Fears' "Mad World" by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules that has popped up in various movies and TV shows. This track was apparently a huge hit in England and I guess the TV folks are trying to find things with a similar downbeat vibe now.
