Anyone feel like jumping off the Stratosphere? This opened today:

I watched some people do this when I was in Auckland a couple of years ago. I really want to try it, but I think a part of me would take control of my body and paralyze me. For some reason, having kids awoke a very strong risk-taking inhibitor in my brain, and I've been a total wuss ever since.

Just shoot me now instead.

(High heights don't agree with me.)

We were at the top of the Stratosphere in Vegas last year and it took me a good 20 minutes to get used to the height. I had to sit down on one of the couches they have up there. But after awhile I got used to it. No way would JImbo ever be able to even just go up the elevator to the top. Much more scary than the Empire State Building or the old World Trade Towers.

We got there around 6PM for dinner and then stayed till nightfall. Cool to see Vegas go from daytime to nighttime from up there.

My son did try one of the rides up there. He is a daredevil and would probably do that Sky Dive.

I hate high heights, and I'd be terrfied to jump-but if I was up there and you showed me a spider I'd jump as fast as possible.

I tried the roller coaster and the one that shoots straight up the last time I was in Vegas. Never again. My wife tried to talk me into the one that's on the track that shoots out over the edge, but there wasn't enough booze in town to get me on there.

My son did the one that goes over the edge. Absolutely frightening! I work a dangerous job and I wouldn't put myself over the edge of a building that size. Yikes!

I've gone over the edge on the XScream, and I've done the coaster (which is supposedly being upgraded), but I haven't tried the Big Shot (my kids have) or that spinning claw ride that goes over the edge. No chance of me doing that free fall.

I thought this was a response to today's announcement that Cirque du Soleil plans to create a live touring show featuring the songs of Michael Jackson next year — followed by a permanent production in Las Vegas in 2012. Oops!

I don't like heights either, can't even make myself jump off the 3 meter diving board!

I am in awe of the construction workers who build skyscrapers. I've read that Native Americans helped build the New York skyscrapers because they weren't afraid of heights.

What kind of a job do you have that's dangerous?

For some reason, a friend of mine calls it the "Stratostrophy". Rhymes with Catastrophe.

Anyway, I went up there two summers ago to look around, but didn't go on the rides. Spectacular view and the weather was perfect.

Police. You never know in this business. I've been a street cop for 23 years now. Never got that cushy inside job.
