I used to buy 'Record Collector' and a few other music magazines over the past 30 or so years.

However over the past few years I have found they have run out of things to say. The same tired articles on classic rock bands such as Hendrix, Floyd and Led Zeppelin (which I love deeply) but nothing new to say.

There were 1000s of other great bands out there but have not got their share of the spotlight.

Even the CD/DVD reviews are very thin due to the lack of any new releases of archival material. Just the same old stuff keeps being re-released/re-packaged over and over again.

I want to challenge the editors of these music related magazines to publish more articles of musicians who contributed to music but have not been written about enough.

I may start to buy them again.

Ranasakawa, you can't expect MOJO or Record Collector to feature obscure names on the cover, but if you buy those two mags on a regular basis, you will find that they nearly always run features on lesser known or cult names. I couldn't live without MOJO and RC, but I don't buy them slavishly every month.

I'm waiting to see what the next Rolling Stone "100 Best" list issue will be. They're really starting to scratch the bottom of the barrel. The next one will probably be "The 100 Best Albums Under Forty-Five Minutes In Length". #1 on their list? "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", of course.

It'll be the issue with John Lennon on the cover.

I kinda disgaree with this statement. Over the last couple of years there have been some amazing remasters from catalogues that had previously ignored.
I agree that some catalogues have been overhauled mutliple times but if they are expanded with lots of bonus tracks, that's OK by me.
But EMI especially with the Jethro Tull, UFO, Whitesnake, MSG, Thomas Dolby, Magazine and Ultravox remasters have done a fantastic job.
Rhino and Legacy have been disappointing lately, but Legacy supposedly will be continuing with the Cheap Trick remasters soon.
I will agree that Legacy have been guilty of rehash lately!
As for the magazine, the only ones I read are Goldmine and Mojo and they do tend to talk about the same things, but not so bad. Classic Rock Magazine I ditched a few years ago because every issue was about classic Guns N' Roses or the inside scoop on some overplayed album from the 70s or 80s and it was pathetic-they had absolutely nothing left to say!

Thanks guys for your comments

My comments were intended to get some feedback, much appreciated !

I'm not saying obscure bands need to be put on the front cover but should get more mention.
