I collect the Latin music percussionists.

And of the reg'lar ol' drummers, I collect:

Hal Blaine (I actually own a whole spoken word album by Hal where he tells nothing but jokes)
Max Roach (and saw him live)
Art Blakey (and saw him live)
Buddy Rich
Elvin Jones
Ringo Starr
Dennis Wilson
Gene Krupa
Tony Allen (and saw him live)

but I never bought the solo album by Moon the Loon... :|

There is an exhaustive, expanded 2-CD version of "Two Sides Of The Moon" that was issued as an import about two or three years ago. One highlight (for me, anyway) is guest musician John Sebastian singing "Don't Worry Baby" (called a "guide vocal" in the liner notes).

While it's hard to call TSOTM a "good album", I'm not so sure it's all that "bad" of an album, either. It is certainly interesting, not boring by any means.

Pretty sure I have every Ringo release. And, naturally, several albums/CDs credited to Charlie Watts.

Two Sides Of The Moon is awful in a Shatner sort of way.

All Music guide's review of it is one of the funniest reviews on it's site.
http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sq ... fqxqr5ld6e

I put the single version of "Don't Worry Baby" (where he multi-tracks himself to sound like the whole Beach Boys) on my Ipod as comic relief.

Would the Dave Clark Five count?

Actually, despite having been a working drummer for many years, I've never really collected any drummer's albums (although a lot of the music that appeals to me does so largely because of the rhythm that the drummer is laying down.)

Buddy Rich is the only really famous drummer / bandleader I've seen perform and he was too much of a showboater for my tastes.

I've got a few... off the top of my head, those include Will Calhoun, Manu Katché, Jack DeJohnette, Jeff “Tain” Watts, and Drew Shoals. There are also several drummer spin-offs and side projects that are more broadly realized, including Bill Bruford, Dave Grohl (the first Foo Fighters album), Ian Mosley, Jimmy Chamberlain, Bill Ward, Jack Irons, and others that I'm surely forgetting.

I have all the awesome Jazz Fusion albums by Billy Cobham (would be nice if they were remastered), the first 3 from Phil Collins, a few soundtrack albums by Stewart Copeland, and one of Carl Palmer's new group.
I think that's it. I used to have an album from Bill Bruford's band Bruford on vinyl but not anymore.

When I started playing drums my two go-to guys were David Garibaldi from Tower of Power, and Bobby Colomby from Blood, Sweat & Tears. Check out some killer Colomby here;

Also Mike Clark, Harvey Mason, Narada Michael Walden, and Richie Hayward.

I can't say that I collect them, but I do have a few discs in my collection: Bill Bruford ("Masterstrokes" & "The Bruford Tapes"), Ringo Starr ("Blast From Your Past"), a couple of Terry Bozzio's solo discs, Billy Cobham's CultureMix ("Colours"), Drum Nation Vol 1 (a various artists comp), and Brian Slawson ("Bach On Wood", "Distant Drums", "Bach Beat").

I've been fortunate enough to see a few well-known drummers live (although not always as bandleaders): Steve Gadd, Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham, Lenny White, Brian Blade, Neil Peart, Stewart Copeland (w/ The Police), & the late Buddy Rich. Two others who I thought were very impressive, but who may not be as well known outside of drumming circles are Shannon Powell, and Ndugu Chancler.

Oh yes, Don Henley. Have yet to get any Levon Helm solo. But I did get the "Largo" CD. And I've got one by Sheila E.

Columby was DEFINITELY one of my influences as well (along with Al Jackson, Jr.) I can't play anywhere near as well as either one of them, but I still find both inspiring in countless ways. I never quite "got" TOP even though all my buddies were into them at the time.

I missed those, but did borrow them from our local library. A fine series.

Yes, I've got her one and only solo album. Not sure if she drums on it.

Vol. 3 (covering the 70s) includes "Rocks Off." It's rare for the Stones to license a track for a multi-artist comp or soundtrack.
