I used to love Ronnie. One of the highlights of my music-related experiences was seeing her perform with Springsteen and Band back in 70-something.
She's now starting to look like Yoko. Yechhhh!

Years ago there was a big controversy about whether or not Paula Abdul sang her own songs. She held a big press conference where she cried and said it was a horrible accusation -- but never sang. Her singing career disappeared at that point. Around the same time I heard an interview with Ronnie Spector and they had barely introduced her before she started singing bits of "Be My Baby" and the recent "Take Me Home Tonight," all perfect. I thought, THAT'S somebody who can sing!

So that's why Paula Abdul disappeared from the limelight! She was hugely popular in the early '90s.

I thought, THAT'S somebody who can sing! Ronnie Spector is the greatest female vocalist in pop. Darlene Love is number two. Dionne Warwick is number three. The big three.

"Be my Baby" is the greatest single of all time. "Don't Worry Baby" is probably the second greatest single, although I think that was a b-side or a double a-side. "Don't Worry Baby" was Brian's answer song to "Be my Baby". Brian Wilson says "Be my Baby" is the "supreme recording achievement of all time". He has played it every day since 1963.

Every morning, Brian's two daughters, Carnie and Wendy, would wake up to the sound of Hal Blaine's explosive drums on "Be my Baby"!
