Even the CD/DVD reviews are very thin due to the lack of any new releases of archival material. Just the same old stuff keeps being re-released/re-packaged over and over again.
I kinda disgaree with this statement. Over the last couple of years there have been some amazing remasters from catalogues that had previously ignored.
I agree that some catalogues have been overhauled mutliple times but if they are expanded with lots of bonus tracks, that's OK by me.
But EMI especially with the Jethro Tull, UFO, Whitesnake, MSG, Thomas Dolby, Magazine and Ultravox remasters have done a fantastic job.
Rhino and Legacy have been disappointing lately, but Legacy supposedly will be continuing with the Cheap Trick remasters soon.
I will agree that Legacy have been guilty of rehash lately!
As for the magazine, the only ones I read are Goldmine and Mojo and they do tend to talk about the same things, but not so bad. Classic Rock Magazine I ditched a few years ago because every issue was about classic Guns N' Roses or the inside scoop on some overplayed album from the 70s or 80s and it was pathetic-they had absolutely nothing left to say!
