Thought about putting this in the Guitar Thread (so feel free to move it, Linda), but decided to at least start it as its own thread.
Last weekend was the fifth Experience PRS event, a sort of open house at Paul Reed Smith Guitars in Maryland. I'm a big PRS fan, and this is about my favorite weekend every year - I've made it to all five events.
As always, some great players there - Al DiMeola (admittedly not my cup of tea), Bernie Marsden of Whitesnake, Tony McManus, Ricky Skaggs, Cody Kilby (from Skaggs' band), David Grissom, Donna Grantis, Davy Knowles, Paul Reed Smith himself, and new this year, Opeth. Marsden is a great guy - he told some great stories. He also mentioned he's played some shows recently with Whitesnake. Grissom and Knowles are ridiculously good players - they did a clinic together that was the musical highlight of the weekend. Good lord. Knowles did another fabulous version of "Imagine" with PRS's band. Donna Grantis is a young Canadian blues player - she was a surprise at last year's event, and even better this year. Her CD is due to come out in November, I believe. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
As usual, I took a ton of pictures, and finally got 'em posted. Enjoy.
