i have an opportunity to see these guys in concert in a few weeks, are they worth going to see ? I have always enjoyed their music, just wonderring if this is the real group or just one guy and the rest bit players

It is Alan Parsons with a touring band. That said - I've seen the show and enjoyed it very much. They also stayed to sign autographs and chat with fans after the show I went to. I guess it depends on the ticket price since there is no Eric Woolfson or any of the vocalists from the original recordings. I was happy to see and have a brief chat with Alan, though.

I have seen them live with Alan's studio musicians and I have a DVD of them live in Spain from his website and they were both great. Parsons is meticulous so the arrangements are very tight. Very recommended show.

They opened up for Yes in 2000. We got there late, so we decided to stay in the lot and warm up for Yes.

I saw them back in the 90s(?) when they first took the Project out on the road. They played the Beacon Theater in NYC and the place wasn't even half full. But the show was a pleasure, and Parsons was quite personable on stage. Go for it!

I didn't even know these guys played concerts until I read this thread. I always assumed they were strictly a studio thing.

This is what I love about this board. I'm always learning something new.

I saw that tour in Houston at the Arena Theater, a small theater, and it may not have been full either but I didn't care, it was a great show. They were touring off their "On Air" release, Alan had a lot of his regular studio musicians on that tour, such as David Paton on guitar, whereas now he has a regular touring band but they are excellent. They stay true to the sound and arrangements, very good musically and vocally.
