from http://www.canstream.co.uk/radioteesdale/In Conversation with Al Jardine Al Jardine is a founding member of top-selling American music group The Beach Boys, their occasional lead vocalist, and their guitarist.
In the Autumn he will be releasing a brand new album “A Postcard from California.” This solo studio album, with contributions from fellow Beach Boys Brian Wilson along with many others including Neil Young, Steve Miller, Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Glen Campbell. Al spoke to Peter Dixon and David Maclean about the album and future plans.

And Al Jardine is also interviewed in the latest issue of the UK music magazine, "Record Collector": http://www.recordcollectormag.com/issue ... detail/365A founding member of the Beach Boys, Alan Jardine has been part of the fabric of American popular music for almost four decades. Never hungering for the spotlight, he has always been a team player, more than happy with his supporting role in the band. A wonderfully expressive and dynamic singer—he is the voice of Help Me Rhonda, Susie Cincinnati, Come Go With Me, Lady Lynda, Loop De Loop and Looking At Tomorrow (A Welfare Song) among numerous others—he lent a distinctive and engaging folk sensibility into the group's diverse palette of sonic colors.
Lyrically, Alan's songs provided a wonderful and sumptuous musical storybook, espousing the joys of nature and the environment, ecology preservation, and the power of love. While not exerting a high profile media presence as Brian Wilson or Mike Love, the innate blend and distinctive character of Alan's honey-sweet voice cannot be underestimated to the success of The Beach Boys.
A humble and charming man, he looked back with RC on over thirty years of good vibrations.

And Al Jardine has also been interviewed for Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/i ... e-awesome/At last month's Songwriter's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the Beach Boys' Al Jardine let Rolling Stone in on his latest obsession: Seattle's Fleet Foxes."They're awesome," he told RS. "They kind of have the Beach Boys vibe, too — very beautiful harmonies. They're just taking the world by storm, and without any singles."
Jardine met the Foxes when they came to his studio in Big Sur, California, where he says the group plans to do some recording work of their own, and adds the band has offered to sing on Jardine's own upcoming A Postcard from California. Last fall, Fleet Foxes singer Robin Pecknold told Pitchfork of the meeting, saying Jardine was "was amazing. A really sweet guy," and drummer Josh Tillman reported the band was given a sneak peek at a then-unheard track Jardine recorded with Neil Young, David Crosby and Stephen Stills.
The track seems to be, "A California Saga," which will also appear on Jardine's upcoming Postcard, and Jardine calls it a personal favorite. "It has truth and it has value. Neil Young and Crosby and Stills help give it integrity," he says. No word yet on which track the Foxes may appear on, but Jardine says he hopes Postcard — also featuring appearanes by Brian Wilson and Beach Boys friend John Stamos — will have a labor day release.
Though Jardine admitted his focus on the new album kept him away from hearing as much new music as he'd like, there's one other current act that's caught his ear: Jason Mraz. Jardine says he likes the style of Mraz (who was presented with the Hal David Starlight Award for "making a significant impact on the music industry via his original songs" at the ceremony): "He's very lyrically present and musically accounted for."
