Yes. And I'll probably even play them from time to time. :ohyes: And I'm keeping Yellow Submarine Songtrack and Let it Be... Naked, of course. I'm keeping everything.

I'll keep 'em. I don't imagine they will be worth much as used discs, and I can always play them in the car or at work. Besides, my four-year-old will probably get into the Beatles at some point (sooner than later), so he could have them while I keep the new remasters for myself. The only downside to keeping them is storage space, which I'm out of anyway.

No. I got rid of them around 1993 when the Japanese mono mini-sleeve series came out. (Yes, I liked the BOOTLEGS better. :)) This included a mono Yellow Submarine, which apparently I'll have to keep even after the legit mono box is released, as well as a stereo Get Back album, which I'd much rather have than any version of the Let It Be album.

I've got Get Back on a Russian twofer, legit and good sound.

Linda, what's wrong with Yellow Submarine on the new mono box?

IIRC they're not going to be releasing the Yellow Sub tracks in mono in the legitimate series, and I prefer everything to be mono through 1968.

"Legit" might be pushing it if it's a Russian release. :) But I don't doubt that it has good sound!

Wonder if the earliest ones, the ones without the Apple Records logo, will have any kind of collectors' value.

If I recall correctly, the mono version of Yellow Submarine was just a fold-down of the stereo mixes, so it's not like the mono is really that important.

That was brought up in the remasters thread, but there are different mono mixes of "It's All Too Much" and "Only A Northern Song", so ....

I'll be hanging on to mine, even though I can't necessarily give any reason for doing so. Jimbo's explanation is likely appropriate for me as well.

The question should be: Will the new Beatles remasters contain some sort of unforgivable remix or alteration that will require anal-retentive fans to hold onto their original CD's lest they be missing out on some speck of noise unavailable elsewhere?

I'd say that the odds-on answer is "absolutely".

Another question might be: Are you even planning to get the new editions when they come out? I was positive I would at first but now I'm not so sure. For one thing, there are still plenty of other holes to fill in my collection, things that I don't have any version of. Also, I want to wait and see what people say about the sound quality before I get too excited about these. Finally (and this is really the bottom line) it will depend on the funds available.

I'm definitely getting both sets. How quickly I do so is another story.
