Buying ticket for Fleetwood Mac fall world tour tomorrow. Yes! I won't have to travel to London. First Mac concert for me. And I have seen Peter Green twice. Life is good! :ohyes:

You know, I once read a little bon mot in a punk fanzine, "I'd rather eat poodle kak than listen to Fleetwood Mac". Well, I beg to differ. I strongly suspect the taste of poodle kak is a far worse experience than playing Fleetwood Mac's coke-fuelled pop music. As I remember it, Fleetwood Mac's music is a rather pleasant experience and I have yet to meet anyone who can say the same for eating poodle kak.

Googa, enjoy!

But I will say that I miss Christine McVie being in the group. It's not the same without her.

But even without her, Fleetwood Mac is leagues better than punk.

Chris,

Yeah, I just checked the ad in the paper again. You're right, no Christine. Still, four out of five members is good enough for me. It'll be an experience, even though it's an arena concert.

She hasn't toured with them in over ten years. I'm sure it'll be a good show, though.

There was talk of Sheryl Crow joining the band for the tour last year, but Crow decided not to.

Christine just doesn't want to tour anymore from what I understand.

You'll love it - it's a great show. I'm glad they didn't mess it up with Sheryl Crow!

Hear, Hear!

She seems to be totally underappreciated. She wasn't on the tour with them a few years ago either, and I seemed to be the only one who lamented her absence. Lindsey and Mick are both odd ducks on stage, for what that matters, and all it takes for the crowd to go crazy for Stevie is for her to just twirl around once or twice.

Christine!!!
(Go back and look at her Mac songwriting credits.)

When you listen to the album they did without Christine McVie (Say You Will) or watch the concert video from that tour, you realize what's missing. Her voice was part of the three unique voices that band had, both in terms of the actual vocals and the songwriting.

McVie not being there changes the chemistry and balance of that band. Say You Will had some good songs, but it seemed more like a modern version of Buckingham Nicks with Buckingham calling the shots.

And her absence means that certain key Mac songs will not be performed.

Again, I'm not saying that the performance won't be good or that it won't be entertaining. It just won't be...the same.

I hope Googa enjoys the show and gets his money's worth.

Yes, probably better to have all original members, although Sheryl Crow might have been good as well, for a second female vocal.

Bob Welch? I've heard of that name, but I can't place him in Fleetwood Mac history. Google, help! :o

I just realize I haven't got any CD's of the second pop-oriented Fleetwood Mac! I've got a complete run of the first Fleetwood Mac, but none from the second band!

Linda was funny. I laughed. Twice.
Perhaps you were just mercifully hypnotized during that period.
