Neil Young's Archive looks great but I'm not that into Neil.
I can think of several artists from whom I will buy an Archive release.

Rolling Stones
Kiss (Kisstory is a nice start)
Jackson 5/The Jacksons/Michael Jackson
Elvis Presley
Iron Maiden

What are your preferred Archives artists?

When KISS's CD box set was released, Tommy Thayer said something along the lines that there was plenty of stuff in the vaults and that there'd be more to come.

I'm still waiting.

I'd buy an Elton John set like that. I'd probably be just as happy with a boxset collection of his b-sides as well as great sounding copies of his Nick Drake recordings.

Bob Dylan, although he's already released a lot of awesome archival releases (eight volumes of "The Bootleg Series").

Based on what I've heard about neil's archives, i wouldn't want ANY other artist to duplicate this overpriced, poorly packaged mess.

As far as a well done hdcd remastered 1st decade career box with rarities, how about Prince.

I wouldn't want any of my cornerstone artists to release an Archive set in the form with which Neil Young did with his Volume 1 set. Instead, I'd prefer to see strictly separate unreleased studio, demo and live set box sets done. Then, I would go ahead and list stuff. You guys pretty much know the usual suspects I've been naming over the years-The Rolling Stones with separate studio, demos & live sets for all three Eras-Jones, Taylor & Wood. After them comes Bruce Springsteen, The Who-Keith Moon Era, Led Zeppelin, etc.

Linda Ronstadt. Hits, album cuts b-sides, rare stuff, plenty of photos,, videos and live clips, the works.

A Don Dixon/Mitch Easter box set featuring music they've made and produced.

Bevis Frond. Nick Saloman reportedly has a vault of unreleased material. Mukti-box sets here.

Man Or Astroman. I miss these guys.

Can I mention various artists box sets?:

A Paisley Underground box set. A huge set that would also pick the bands on the fringe of the PU.

A pub rock box set would be great. The 2 disc Goodbye Nashville, Hello Camden Town anthology makes me yearn for much more.

Rhino's surf box was good but not great. I'd love to hear an excellent decades-spanning surf instrumental box set.

I kept postponing the purchase of that one until it was too late.

And yet, next year, you'll see another Beach Boys compilation instead of that.

I know. It's absurd.

It would take years of legal wrangling between Mike Love and Brian Wilson just to agree to do the project.

Then, years of haggling over tracks, sequencing, etc.

And then, once it was finally done, Mike Love would hold up the release by a year or so, claiming the liner notes were too reverent to Brian.
