Come on now, IP--if we had Thin Lizzy threads running rampant you'd be all over them, admit it!! Speaking of which, being a big Gary Moore fan, what did you think of that incarnation of Thin Lizzy while Gary was there? I've been holding off on "Black Rose", which I believe is your favorite Thin Lizzy release if memory serves me correctly. There are so many Japanese editions out there, does one sound better to your ears than the others?
I would not be posting about Lizzy or anyone like the NY thread! I'd off myself. I was joking about the NY, but it's been pretty hilarious watching Neil's fans cry to each other and to the Man himself about the box. So much controversy!
There were 3 Moore eras in Lizzy-1974 which was mostly live gigs and a few singles, then 1977 where he toured filling in for the drunk/injured Brian Robertson and then 1978-79 which featured the latter half of the "Live And Dangerous" tour and of course, the masterpiece that is "Black Rose".
Never heard the Japanese editions-I have the original CD, the Metal Blade remaster and the original vinyl. Obviously, the vinyl is best, but the Metal Blade remaster is quite good. I have not heard the Wounded Bird reissues, so I can't comment there.
The Lizzy with Moore was simply amazing-I have several boots too, and it was a great time. Gary just wasn't fucked up enough to party like those guys, so it was on borrowed time-every time!
