I was in Target and I wasn't looking for it, but I saw the placard for it and the CDs were all gone-there were 3 DVDs left.

J&R had a bunch of copies today, both the CD and the DVD. 'Rama was holding the CD for me on Tuesday, but I ordered the deluxe set from Clapton's website, which arrived today.

That's good to hear. The record stores in my downtown are all closing. Wal Mart has lot's of CDs. The stores that stay open now all sell DVDs and electronics as well. Used Cd stores are doing really well, though... :ohyes:

With BB, one question is always how many copies did they bring in. My BB has a tendency to order really light on classic rock new releases.

I still buy CDs, and will continue to do so until I can't any longer. Yet this one is not on my buy list.

Winwood certainly seems to have raised his profile over the past couple of years... I bet there are plenty of his fans driving the album sales.

I'd like to see Stevie Winwood perform more Spencer Davis Group songs live. Sorry to stray off-topic. I'm glad used CD stores are doing well in Toronto.

When I heard this was coming out I was excited, but I now that it's out I can't bring myself to buy it. Does anyone here have it? How is it?

I buy them when I find one I like...problem is there isn't a lot of good new music out there...most of the re-issues have...already been re-issued.

Yep, most of the "great" albums have been issued and re-issued twice/ thrice.

This Clapton/Winwood release is special because it was a rare show and I happened to be there.

Yes. I have decided to go to the extreme measure of buying actual physical Cd's. I've bought a few now... it was really strange walking into a store to buy music. But I'll get used to it.

Smiff, I assume you're talking about Clapton/Winwood? I posted my opinion in an other thread here,

There's still tons of albums getting remastered that never had such treatment before. It's true that there are some cases of 2nd, 3rd, even 6th reissues, but those are usually for overplayed albums that few can sit through again anyway.
I actually have problems scaling down over the last few years as so many artists I love like UFO, Whitesnake, Echo & Bunnymen, Beastie Boys, ZZ Top, Warren Zevon, ELO, Alan Parsons Project, Magzine, etc. have had great reissue campaigns.

I finally broke my drought of CD shopping. The most recent CD's I bought were during Circuit City's last days in mid-March. Since I typically bought about 10 discs during Memorial Day at CC, I thought this would be a good time to dive back into the pool, as it were. I went to Wal-Mart, which is not a great substitute for Circuit City or Virgin Megastore. However, they did have some CD's that surprised me, such as Branford Marsalis's latest, Metamorphosen. I had hoped to keep the prices to $10 or less per CD, but I was disappointed that anything I wanted was $11.98 or more. I picked up:

1.) Lionel Richie - Just Go
2.) Chris Botti - Live In Boston
3.) Tower Of Power - The Great American Soulbook

There were several other albums that I had hoped to find, but I guess I'll make do with these for awhile. It definitely feels like the glory days of brick & mortar CD buying are over.

Jim

Unfortunately, when they say "we sell for less" it means they've got it for $11.98 instead of $11.99. :x
