Spent all of today listening to rock with a country slant.

Delved into Dylan's John Wesley Harding (which is one of my favourite albums by him)The Byrds Sweetheart Of The Rodeo, two Grateful Deads-Workingmen's Dead and American Beauty.

To finish, I listened again to The New Rider's of The Purple Sage NRPS that I bought recently !

An old warhorse today, "Exile on Main Street"- Virgin remaster. Recently I've taken to playing an album like four or five times in a row. I don't like the hassle of changing CD's.

Mariners game. Earlier I was listening to a superb Jackson Browne / David Lindley 2006 Philadelphia show that's making the rounds. Shame it isn't an official release; it's the best thing he's done since Hold Out!

Jesus Christ Superstar: the original studio cast album with Murray Head, Yvonne Elliman, and Ian Gillan. I sing along (quietly and off-key) with the entire score--a Good Friday tradition.

Yes/ Relayer

My least favorite Yes album but I gave it another shot today on my IPOD.
Mostly a mess but does have the great song "Soon" buried at the end of Track One The Gates Of Delirium.

Why that song never got much radioplay back then is a mystery. One of the better classic Yes songs, it doesn't even show up on some the early Yes comps like Classic Yes (1981).
Image

It did make an appearance on the comp Highlights: The Very Best Of Yes (1993) as a single edit.

I basically skipped this era of Yes and got back on board with the next one Going For The One (one of my favorite Yes albums). It was around that period that I started seeing Yes in concert.

I was inspired by Jimbo (thanks Jimbo) and listened to All Things Must Pass. Perfect music for a Good Friday drive to a business meeting.

Carole King is over in Britain at the moment to promote the Legacy edition of "Tapestry" and her latest dvd.

So what better opportunity to go back and listen to that classic ? I dug my old version out and gave it a listen after quite a few years.A classic in every sense of the world. You know when an album hits the right places when you get goosebumps, and this happened on the second song "So Far Away" and at other intervals throughout.

She's also appearing on a late night music show tonight Later With Jools Holland (pre-recorded), and checking the schedules is due to perform two songs from the album. It will also be her first performance on British tv for 38 years !

I also caught her on a chat show in which she revealed the famous cat on the cover of Tapestry was called
"Telemachus".

I'll also listen now to "Now That Everything's Been Said" that she recorded as one third of a group called The City, and before she hit the big time.Another lovely album.

I fell asleep to Blackstreet last night. Why didn't I see them live when I had the chance? What's wrong with me?

I've got that album by The City, perfect addition to your Carole King kollektion.

I've been a big Carole King fan ever since the first time I heard "It's Too Late" on the radio back in, what, 1970? But I had never heard the City album until it came out on CD a few years ago. Excellent album, very much a piece with Writer, Tapestry, Music, etc. "Snow Queen" is one of her best songs.

I received two very cool cds in the mail yesterday:
*Tim Easton: Live at Water Canyon
*Chuck Prophet: Balinese Dancer/Feast of Hearts

I've been listening to them both non-stop since last night, and they are both terrific.

The "Snow Queen" is a standout song for me too. There's also a nice cover version of it on "Roger Nicholls and The Small Circle Of Friends".

I'm short on Carole King, only those two albums mentioned above.

Which album/s would you recommend ?

Listened to alot of stuff yesterday (it was raining).

Started with Neil Young's Fork In The Road (DVD 96khz version)....actually
liked it for the most part.

Then switched to The Who Sell Out DE and went thru the stereo and mono versions. Very nice. Lots of neat stuff to hear on those 2 discs.

Then it was Beatles time. The 5.1 LOVE dvd had to be played as I had just purchased 4 tickets to the Beatles LOVE show in Vegas.
Sounds superb in DTS 5.1. Looking forward to seeing the real show in late June.
