Nice - love the Schaller locking tuners. Have those on one guitar. Next to the PRS locking tuners, those are my favorite. Much better than a locking nut.

I had a chance to go down to the local guitar store and try out 5 Taylors. They all sound gorgeous, but it's going to have to be one of the solid wood models. They are amazing. It'll take a little longer to save up, but I think it will be worth it.

Does anybody carry Larrivee around you? Amazing guitars - and they do very little ornamentation, so the same wood choices cost a bit less. When I bought my good acoustic, I was convinced it was going to be a Martin, but the Larrivee beat it. My wife comments about the sound of that guitar almost every time I play it.

Hmmm…I don't know. I'll have to look into it.
How's the action on that? I have pretty bad CTS in my left wrist and I've been told that Taylors feel more like electrics than acoustics in that regard. I sold my Guild because my left hand would go dead after about 30 minutes of playing.

Action is good, but the neck feels more like an acoustic than an electric. I'll have to look at it from that aspect tonight - I always get some cramping in my hand when I haven't played acoustic in a while or if I'm pressing too hard (still have to remind myself to relax in some situations). It's not as thin as my Strat neck, that's for sure, and that's the only common ground I think we have to compare.

I'm going to get an electric bass later this year, I think - maybe a Mark Hoppus signature one from Fender. I've always wanted a bass, and that one is the frontrunner.

I got this Fender resonator for Christmas (excuse the terrible phone pic). I don't know how to play guitar but I've been practicing daily (mostly) since I got it, and I've learned a lot, mostly consisting of tuning, how to hold it and how to keep my fingers in the right place. I still can't play at all, of course. Except a few blues riffs in open G, which is what keeps me going.
All metal body? It's hard to tell because of the reflections. I want to get a resonator one of these days - almost bought one last year during the annual sale at my pusher. I think it was a Guild, all metal body, just under $500. I tried a wood one, too, and it didn't sound nearly as good. I keep hearing Knopfler's "Romeo And Juliet" every time I see one - and some old, nasty slide blues riffs.

Yes, all metal. It's this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0073AN3D6/?tag=imwan-20 But holy hell it went WAY up in price since I got the gift (was on sale for $300). I've had a yearning for a long time to learn guitar, and all of the music I want to do seems to be played by old Delta Blues guys on National resonators. My goal is to be able to play like this.

Spent about 15 minutes just monkeying around with the Larrivee - boy is my left hand out of shape! The neck is not overly thick, but it's not narrow - it's pretty wide, so I'm not sure it would be good for your CTS (he said with no idea what makes it worse). But man, that guitar does sound good.
I've heard that the GC at Fenway is blowing a lot of its PRS inventory out - might be worth a look to see if they have any of the acoustics. The necks on those are great. The SE models are really good guitars - especially at that price point. And you may find one of the core line acoustics - at least you can chuckle at the price!

It might be time for a trip down there. I can always stop into the souvenir store next door and get some 2013 World Series Champions gear.

Yikes! I met him at last Summer's Aristrocrats show and he such a gentlemen. Can't wait till that band returns to this area ( they are touring Mexico and Southern California right now). Don't miss them.

Oh by the way, Charvel announced at the NAMM show that the Guthrie Govan model will be available for order this May 2014! And for metal fans, a Jake E Lee model arrives in late March.
