Yes, you're right. I can hear hat you mean with that JW model.
It's very difficult to tell via headphones whether or not stuff sounds the way you want it to and so on. I'll be okay though - having done a LOT of reading on the subject, plus my own experiences, I'm 99% sure that model of Jazzmaster will suit me.

Hussongs Cantina in Ensenada. Had to sneak back in to get my boombox!

Sorry to hear that.
I'm super careful about every guitar related purchase. I live in a remote area so everything is done via the internet which has made me virtually paranoid - in more senses than one.
I don't have much chance to try before I buy so I rely on my own instincts and various YouTube demos to figure out what I need to know. I tend to agree with your assessment of the Taylor feedback issue - I wouldn't be thrilled with that, either. Also, why wasn't that issue explained by the sales staff and why weren't you provided with the rubber gadgets initially? I don't blame you for being unhappy.
This particular guitar is on consignment at the shop. And I know from them selling some of my gear in the store that they like to talk up the items for the seller and direct any questions from a potential buyer directly to the seller. Dave wanted to show me the work around to help the seller which he would do for me too.
I just can’t fathom a company with the street cred of Taylor putting out a new model in the same line that has the same problem. Just fix it, right? I know feedback is a problem commonly associated with acoustics in general, but Taylor markets this line as a guitar hat has all the acoustic and electric tones you need in one instrument.
So I’ll go right back to Coffey Music to buy a PRS and they will be all over me with help and service buying one from their stock. On the T5Z I was just trying to sniff out a crazy good deal but it was not meant to be.

I just ordered the American Performer Jazzmaster in satin Lake Placid blue. They won't be getting any stock until November at the latest but I've paid a deposit so I'll definitely get one. After much research it was the guitar I decided was definitely for me.
There are many demos online, as there are for every Fender product, but this guy's demo was especially interesting to me -

I've been primarily focused on acoustic the last few months and recently picked up a beautiful Martin Custom Shop acoustic. Apparently, they only made 25 of these. It sounds amazing.

Stunning guitar Bill! Always wanted a Martin (I do have a Ed Sheeran model which is a parlor guitar). It is on my bucket list. I do have a family member on my wife’s side that live in PA and his best friend (and best man at the wedding) works at Martin so they are always saying stop by for a tour but we just never seem to get out there.

You really should. Especially if you can get a tour of the factory floor (not sure if they still do that). They have a huge visitor center with a ton of stuff on display - that's a huge improvement on what they had the first time we did the tour.

Thank you John. This is my third Martin. I also have a Jeff Tweedy model OODB (which is a lovely instrument) and an SC13-E (which is a nice workhorse). But the Custom Shop is in a class of its own. John, anytime you'd like to play, you are welcome to come up and play any of my guitars (and stay as long as you like). Chris would love to see you again too!.
My teacher and I are planning a trip to the Martin factory and museum. Now that he has had his 2 shots we may be ready to go!

So, I just read about bog oak instruments today. They use wood from ancient trees that has been preserved in english bogs for thousands of years. I don't know how it sounds, but I'm sort of obsessed with the idea of having an instrument that's made with wood that thousands of years old.

How far are you from Nazareth Alan? Aren't we due for another trip to Primanti Brothers?

Yes I can’t wait for another get together maybe this time in NH since there isn’t a real reason to go to Boston with the restaurants closed and no real CD stores anymore.

We actually have a real CD store in Concord!

It’s about 4.5 hours for me. And I’m always due for Primanti’s!
