I don't know what this means.

Not to mention that I'm terrified of Dr. Chris Evil right now.

Pick up the new remaster of The Replacements - Let It Be (one of 1984's finest albums)

I asked everyone I know about this. They're all as lost as I am.

lol Chip. That's because I had a typo...the question is which one DO you love--referring to the earlier string here.

It beats the discussion from the Boston Live thread though, don't you think?

No problem. It wasn't the typo that confused me, btw. I didn't bother reading the rest of the thread before voting.

"Stand" almost drops REM behind U2. "Shiny Happy People" as well. Then I consider Zooropa again.

Poor Zooropa. So maligned.

I like both bands and consider them favorites, but I go with U2. For me, R.E.M. peaked in the 1980s and despite some brief forays back into excellence -- Automatic and New Adventures -- they just haven't been the same since Green.

U2 has been more consistent over a longer period of time, and their peaks -- Joshua, Achtung, Unforgettable -- are higher than R.E.M.'s. I also think U2's periodic reinventions have been more successfully musically than R.E.M.'s. They've been able to shift gears and try something new whereas R.E.M.'s attempts at the same have fallen short.

I like Zooropa! The title track, Lemon, and Stay (Far Away/So Close) are all time favorites.

I like Zooropa album well enough. 'Stay (Far Away/So Close)' is one of my favs by the band. I need to be in the right mood for 'Lemon'. It's WAY better than Up, Reveal or Around the Sun.

As well you should be, Chiparino.

Frickin' Bono! I'm gonna destroy every third world country he campaigns for! And then I'll rebuild them, take them over and they will...love me.
