Interesting how the definition of "Rapper" has changed: first the Jaggerz above (though I never really figured out just what they meant); to a youth peer counselor in the 70's (there also was rapping as a verb in the 70's, which meant something along the line of 2 "heads" talking with each other), to today's various hip hop definitions.

In the 60s rapping was just talking. Let's rap, man. You dig my rap?

In the song the "rapper" is a guy who uses well-phrased, sensitive though insincere arguments to get women. He lays a rap on 'em!

John Cowsill (of the Cowsills, duh) played drums on "867-5309/Jenny" by Tommy Tutone. He's currently with Mike Love's "Beach Boys" touring band, playing keyboards and singing Al's parts.

Bon Jovi's drummer Tico Torres was with the early 80's band Franke & the Knockouts. He joined for the 2nd album "Below the Belt" and played on the top 40 hit "Without You (Not Another Lonely Night)" .

Ambrosia bassist/vocalist Joe Puerta was later with Bruce Hornsby & the Range.

Same goes for Andy Summers' (or Somers, back then) work with Dantalion's Chariot.

He must've altered the spelling on his last name after his divorce from Suzanne Somers.

I believe Andy Summers was also in the 3rd version of the Animals.

You're right. He played on their 2-LP "Love Is" album, which was mostly covers, including "To Love Somebody" and "Ring Of Fire" and all the songs were drawn out to 7-10 minutes with long solos.

Summers was considered when the Stones were replacing their lead guitarist (Mick Taylor got the gig). You can bet the Police didn't want their post-punk fans to know that in 1979!

I thought he was considered to replace Mick Taylor, and Ron Wood got the gig.

There were a ton of people considered and/or auditioned back when Mick Taylor left the Stones. Among others were : Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Wayne Perkins, Harvey Mandel, Nils Lofgren, Rory Gallagher & Steve Marriott.

The Stones did indeed want Rory Gallagher in the band but he declined feeling it wasn't the right thing for him-he was right and I love both artists.
Also, Aerosmith asked Michael Schenker to join when Joe Perry quit in 1979, but he said no. That would've been a drug-fueled trainwreck if there ever was one.

I've always felt that Ron Wood lost his musical identity in the Stones & changed from being a really distinctive guitarist to sounding like Keith Richards the 2nd. It would have been a travesty if that had happened to Rory Gallagher.

Having just started listening to The Faces, I'm gaining a whole new appreciation for Woody.
