I just want to put in a plug for this amazing cd. From sales numbers, I think most people have never heard her latest solo cd from 2004. I'm listening to it at the moment for the first time in a few months & while I put it on my top 60 list, I'd still forgotten how stunning it is. If you enjoy Female Singer Songwriters singing about relationships with somewhat of a rock backing band, BUY THIS. It's awesome.

I'm also really into Maria McKee's latest Late December at the moment: Think Ziggy Stardust meets German music hall with a several octave female voice singing lead.

Bannings: Who, me?
Thanks for mentioning this, Geff. I bought this album when it came out, listened once (probably), put it on the shelf, and hadn't touched it since. I tried it again this morning, and it sounds really good the first time through. I'm going to keep listening and see if it grows on me.

I have to admit the silly cover with the fake deer didn't help anything.

I agree. This is an excellent album. I put off buying it for a LONG time because of the cover! It just did not look promising at all. However, I'd say this is probably her best overall album. I burned a "random MP3" disc for my car that contains most of this album, and I've really come to love them.

It is a shame... she really is under-rated!

If I had to pick 2 best, it would be this one & Firecracker.

She's due for a new cd, I hope she keeps progressing.

Does she still wear those glasses? That was major aspect of her appeal.

Seems like years ago that her music was in the film "Reality Bites".

Stay was her first hit. It was in RB. The deluxe edition of the dvd has an interview with her & a music video.

IMO, all her cd's are great (except the children's cd which isn't my sort of thing).

Here are some photos I took during her appearance at Borders Books in Columbus Circle (NYC) to promote the release of "The Purple Tape" on CD, January 22nd of this year...

According to her website, Lisa's next release is "Camp Lisa," a 21-track children's CD scheduled for release May 27 (seven weeks away).
