update:
i did receive a promo copy of of "keep it simple" from lost highway, along with 2 fountains and a nice notepad, all embossed with the "keep it simple" logo.
but, i had a hell of a time returning the original CD to best buy.
the story:
since i had my receipt they were quick to give me a replacement copy of "keep it simple" which the clerk opened right before my eyes. i, of course, immediately looked for the security tag and sure enough, there it was in the exact same place as the first one.
i told them this was unacceptable and that i wanted my money back, and then the shit hit the fan. the "supervisor" said that they would not take back open product, i said, of course, that they opened it not me. after 5 minutes of bickering asked for another CD. they got it, opened it, and guess what? security tag! so naturally, i asked for another and they refused.
now, i am pissed. i ask for the store manager. the "supervisor" says they are all busy, i say, "i'll wait all night if i have to". the manager was there in less than 2 minutes! he hears my case, yet he also refuses to give me money back but i thank him for being polite (unlike his supervisor) and leave the store.
now it is me against best buy and i am not going to lose.
i notice that when opening the third CD they left the white sticker that we all hate, intact (and they gave me my original receipt back) and an idea pops into my head......re-shrink! now i just happen to know a guy who knows a guy who has a shrink wrap machine. we re-shrink. i go to a different best buy, they give me back my money.
now i know some will feel i did wrong, but understand that i was very very pissed and not thinking clearly. also, i have spent thousands (literally) of dollars in best buy and i would never have done any of this if the damn security tag was in the right place from the beginning.
renny
p.s i also was very quick to point out that people like me keep the music section of best buy open and that i may now start downloading because of them
