I've got two double rows like that stacked on top of each other - it's a pain having to get a CD out from the bottom rows.

put a 5 inch wide strip of cardboard between the rows, and something behind the lower row to make it stick out further than the upper row.

OK, so it's just your stack from yesterday. Last weeks haul is scattered around underneath that shelf. :)

OK, enough joking around.

I think this is obviously a cry for help from Linda. She needs us. We've got to do SOMETHING before her situation gets out of control. Is there a CD collector's hotline she can call? Someplace that will overnight a CD storage system?

Wish that pic was a little clearer so we could see the titles. :)

I imagine many homes have piles of CDs like that.

Hi Linda,
If that actually comes from your closet, you need to get some new shelves and get those stored. The ones that are laying on top of each other are not good for the discs themselves in the long haul. You need to have those side by side standing up.
Also, so that you are prepared to face this massive project, please take two cookies and call me in the morning. :snack:  I don't know what you should do with the other two in the smilie
Don't feel bad. I have a poster closet that is an absolute horrendous mess. My Mom and I have said for the past two years that we are going to tackle that project and we just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Rats...for a few hours there, my imagination was preoccupied with what else might be found in Linda's closet...Batgirl costumes on hangers, I thought, and dozens of sexy stilletto-heeled shoes piled on the floor...

That pix is not so bad...

How NOT to store them is stacked one on top of the other, no artwork, no jewel case...just disc on disc on a spindle with no cover. A friend of mine actually did that. He's not a friend anymore...

This isn't much better:

No offense intended to our dear Mr. Fraxon, but these things make me cringe. I have a couple that I use for commuting and traveling, but I only put CD-Rs in them.

Same here. I keep all store bought CDs in their jewel cases. There's something unsettling about throwing away the album art and track listing, liner notes (such as they are these days)... :)

No offense taken, sir. My wife and I started using them as a space-saving measure and they have worked out spectacularly for us. YMMV.

No worries, Jeff. I keep everything *but* the jewel cases. All the artwork/booklets/liner notes, etc. are organized and stored on a seperate shelf. :)
