US Nirvana Ministry My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult Sonic Youth UK All of the Brit-pop 90s bands which sound about the same but have a great sound I really enjoy. None of them stand out enough to be singled out as special. Most of the music I listened to in the 90s besides the above was Belgian and Canadian experimental stuff.

There were five great bands in the 90s? Scratching my head, but for the first time in this series of threads, the US wins for me.
US Nirvana Garbage (and it takes a Scottish singer to get them here) Collective Soul Live No Doubt
UK U2 (again...) Manic Street Preachers Travis St. Etienne Verve

Another great decade for music!
US: Nine Inch Nails Primus Dream Theater Alice In Chains Tool
(and so many more like Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Counting Crows, Black Crowes, Live, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.)
UK: Oasis Placebo Radiohead Seal The Verve
I corrected my UK acts as I did that in a hurry and forgot 2 acts I truly think rule and somehow forgot. Anyway, the US wins this decade by a mile.

The no solo artist thing has been tough on me for each decade. USA wins since I could only come up with 2 for the UK!
UK Bush (The band, not the evil politicians!) Marillion
US Posies Pearl Jam Red Hot Chili Peppers Counting Crows Toad The Wet Sprocket

Whoops, I only put 4 US bands, and left off Nine Inch Nails! That's my fifth, even though they went to crap after the Downward Spiral.

What can I say? The grunge era was unbelievable. It's not for nothing that they're playing all of the above on classic rock stations now.
Top UK Blur Prodigy Radiohead Jamiroquai Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine
All good, but U.S. wins.

U.S.: Nirvana. Soundgarden. Smashing Pumpkins. Stone Temple Piliots and Alice In Chains are tied. Pearl Jam.
I will give an honorable mention to Nine Inch Nails, as well.
UK: Oasis. Blur. Stone Roses. Radiohead. Pulp.
