In honor of Ray Davies latest solo album ("Working Man's Cafe" now available in the US) and his upcoming US tour, it is time to pick your 5 favorite Kinks songs. Hopefully a reunion will occur later this year and a real boxset. The Kinks deserve to be up there with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who as one of the greatest and most influential bands ever. Not easy, I know, but thus the challenge now exists to pick your 5 songs!

Mine:
1.)All Day And All Of The Night
2.)Father Christmas
3.)You Really Got Me
4.)Destroyer
5.)(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman-(this would be my #1)

I really only know their hits. This is one band I should really look into a lot more, as I've always liked them. Anyway I narrowed it to five but any of several others are probably just as good.

You Really Got Me
Lola
Celluloid Heroes
Father Christmas
Come Dancing

The results would be these for the Top 5 votes:

1. You Really Got Me (12)
2. Celluloid Heroes (10)
3. Lola (9)
4. Waterloo Sunset (8)
5. Sunny Afternoon (5)
-There were 34 different songs from 17 different voters-thanks for looking!

Update: Man, did things change just from the 2 people who voted today, even eliminating my favorite Kinks song from a tie for 5th (booooo!).

Sinc the votes have already been tallied, I hope you don't mind if I list my Top 5 Kinks' COVERS:

Pretenders -- Stop Your Sobbing
The Jam -- David Watts
The Romantics -- She's Got Everything
Blue Aeroplanes -- Big Sky
Robert Palmer -- You Really Got Me (sorry, this version just beats Van Halen's cover by a nose!)
