World's largest music collection auctioned on eBay

Feb 19, 2008

What is claimed to be the largest collection of recorded music in the world is up for auction on eBay, with a starting price of $3million (£1.5million).

The collection, which boasts around three million vinyl records and 300,000 CDs, contains over six million songs, around half of which are unplayed.

No bids for the collection have been put forward yet, with the auction set to close on Thursday (February 21).

The anonymous owner of the collection, from Pittsburgh, USA reveals in the profile that he has collected the music over the past 50 years, and writes that he wishes for the collection to be bought by someone with a view to donating it to a museum.

Jimbo's collection is more than a museum would be, it's a holy shrine, man! Among all of his CD's, I bet there's a little Kon-Tikki music god figure standing resolutely in there somewhere. LOL!

Sounds like a great time to instantly amass a sudden collection with no sweat.

Wonder if its jam packed with rare DCC's and MFSL's?

Buying them all at once would be too easy! I love the thrill of the hunt!

Not quite up to 300,000 CDs yet, but I'm working on it!
