When I was in college in the early 90s at Ole Miss, I lived 1/2 of an old shotgun duplex here in Oxford. Cary Hudson and Laurie Stirrat of the band Blue Mountain lived in the other apartment and we shared a hall in between.
Laurie's twin brother, John Stirrat used to bring Jeff Tweedy (then of Uncle Tupelo) and others (like Jay Farrar of Sun Volt) over for jam sessions and they were constantly apologizing for the "noise." The walls were so thin that it sounded as if I were in the same room with them, but it was far from noise. It was amazing.
