As a big ELO fan, I'm curious what exactly this is. They are being billed as the Electric Light Orchestra and are playing the massive Sweden Rock Festival this summer. All it says on the Sweden Rock website is, Electric Light Orchestra (with former members of ELO and ELO II). That raises a red flag for me although ELO II actually had more members of ELO then ELO did when Jeff Lynne resurrected the name in 2001. ELO II were actually quite good, but without Lynne it was rather ridiculous as he IS ELO. So, does anyone know who is involved? Without Lynne I don't really care. But, I'm curious nonetheless. I couldn't find any other info out there as to what's going on. Can anyone clarify this? Is it a joke, or the real deal (probably not)?

If this ever is planned with the REAL ELO (including Jeff Lynne) then I'm sure this site will break the news: http://www.ftmusic.com/Nothing on there yet. Let's hope...

No, this band is Kelly Groucutt, Mik Kaminski, Louis Clark, Eric Troyer, Phil Bates and Gordon Townsend. For awhile they were touring as "The Orchestra", now they tour under the name "The Electric Light Orchestra And ELO Part 2 Former Members". Which I suppose technically protects them from being sued by Jeff Lynne.
When we see an actual poster or ticket for this festival it will probably look like the billing on the tickets for ELOAEPIIFM's current tour:
ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA & ELO Part 2 Former Members
("ELOAEPIIFM" is such a catchy and memorable abbreviation, though ... can't wait to see the logo ...)

What a sham-and truly a disgrace to the name. Why not 'ELOTHERETHISISASCAMANDNOTREALLYELO? I like that one a lot-if you read it carefully, which the promoters probably didn't! Sigh...I really wouild like Jeff Lynne and ELO for real one more time. What Lynne had as ELO on the Zoom DVD wasn't ELO either.

A few years I was able to see Groucutt, Kaminski, Clark, Bevan, Tandy and crew perform with the local symphony orchestra. I'm a lifelong ELO fan, and thought the concert was amazing. It would've been nice to hear Lynne's vocals, but hearing the songs belted out by a huge orchestra more than made up for his not being there.
I'd love to see Lynne, Bevan, Kaminski, Tandy, etc. in concert again, but if I had another chance to hear ELO II jam with an orchestra, I'd grab the tickets in a second.

Oh, I saw the very last ELO II show in Atlantic City in Nov. 1999 with the American Pops Symphony Orchestra and it was truly great. But it most certainly was not ELO-without the man who wrote, produced, conceived and created every note of original music for that band, it just can't be the real thing. But I agree, the show was very good for what it was.
