Easily one of the worst songs in musical history. I love the Abacab album and with this song they were trying for a Devo-styled New Wave tune and it failed miserably. Miserably!

I almost mentioned this one, too. But then I got to thinking, if you take it for what it is -- just a bit of silliness (were they really trying to be new wave?) -- it's kinda fun.

It's interesting how people's tastes vary. I like 10 of the songs that others have posted here so far.

Jethro Tull: "Bungle in the Jungle"
(Naturally, this idiotic song became a monster hit single).

Elton John: "Bennie and the Jets"
(Okay, I know I'm in the minority here - but this song irritates the hell out of me. When I've seen him in concert, he has never failed to include this song. As great of a live performer as Elton still is, hearing him scream "Bennie . . . Bennie . . . Bennie" in a ridiculously high-pitched squeal makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up).

I don't know if it's a big enough song to qualify but Almost Cut My Hair makes me leap for the >>> button.

Yeah, the whole New Wave thing really backfired on them in Europe where they were booed horribly every time they played any "Abacab" material live. I have several bootlegs from that tour and it wasn't pretty. If you watch the Three Sides Live concert video the performance of "Who Dunnit" is excrutiating-Phil looking like a cross between some synth-pop boob and Elton John, Mike Rutherford playing drums-I mean, wow, truly ghastly, yet intriguing!
It was fun to them perhaps, but to me quite scary. I still love that album though.

There's something about this song I dearly love. Some of the lyrics are dumb, but the feel of the song is so me...........

The line "But I'm not giving in an inch to fear, Cause I missed myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone" always touches me. & I love the jam.

"Almost Cut My Hair" was truly one of the highlights of the CSNY2K tour. Crosby just slayed the audience with his performance.

"Heartache all over the World"-Elton John
His WORST single release by far, IMO. I cant even listen to it!

"Body Language"-Queen
God awful, and embarrasing

Hmmm....I don't know...is "Heartache All Over The World" any worse than anything on the "Victim Of Love" album?

I do have to agree with you wholeheartedly on "Body Language"-Queen!

I'd add:

Bruce Springsteen - "Glory Days"
Boston - "Amanda"
Phil Collins - "Sussudio"
Lionel Richie - "Dancing On The Ceiling"
Eric Clapton - "Wonderful Tonight"
Foreigner - "Hot Blooded" & "Dirty White Boy"
J. Geils Band - "Centerfold"
Robert Palmer - "Addicted To Love"
The Ramones - "I Wanna Be Sedated"
Bob Seger - "Old Time Rock & Roll"

and any 'Power Ballad" by Aerosmith with the exception of "Dream On".

I have to agree with Walter about "Wonderful Tonight". Clapton's old mother liked it, though.

Me too - the song captures the rebellious attitude of the counterculture. And I definitely am still running counter to this culture!

This past weekend, my best friend seemed shocked at my pinched face and cry of “Ugh!” when a popular song by one of my very favorite artists came on the radio. I don’t remember this subject being addressed on IMWAN before and thought it would make for an interesting thread. So… what are the songs you hate by the artists you love? It’s easy to go through albums and pick out obscure garbage, so let's keep it to either singles that charted or well-known album tracks. Here are a few of mine:
“Don’t Bring Me Down” – ELO
“We’ll Be Together” – Sting
“Fire Lake” and “Feel Like a Number” – Bob Seger
“Wherever I Lay My Hat” – Paul Young
“Morning Train (9 to 5)” – Sheena Easton
“Draw of the Cards” – Kim Carnes

and the absolute worst of all – the one that inspired this thread:
“All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You” – Heart

“I am the flower
You are the seed
We walked in the garden
We planted a tree”

Please pass the barf bags and don’t let Mutt Lange near a pen – or a Wilson sister – again. Ann earned back several points with me in the liner notes of “The Road Home,” when she revealed the band doesn’t like this song, either.

I always liked "Fire Lake". Maybe it's a Detroiter thing? We used to skip school, head out to "Womplers Lake", and do the usual countercultural thing. This song makes me feel young again, in the sun, and content with next to nothing but 2 pairs of jeans to my name....

Really great additions, everybody.
I'd have to go along with "Bennie & the Jets," "Stand," "Ebony & Ivory," "We Didn't Start the Fire," "Dirty White Boy" and "The War Song" as being at or close to the bottom of the barrel for their respective artists. (But "25 or 6 to 4" will always be my favorite Chicago track.)
Keep 'em coming...

Cherokee by Europe, because The Final Countdown fucking rocks!

I kid. Both songs suck.

Oh, and Cherry Pie by Warrant.

You know, I just can't stay on topic here. I hate both of these bands.

Okay, for real, Pop Singer by John Mellancamp just because it pointed out what a hypocrite Mellancamp became (or always was).

"Old Time Rock and Roll", which has been mentioned, is a song whose sentiments
I really detest-"today's music ain't got the same soul"-well, certainly not the music that you were making, Bob.

I don't like Kylie's "Locomotion", but since it was early on I kind of dismiss it, which I'm sure pleases her to no end.

I have to agree. I always thought that song reflected all too well the narrow-minded attitude of a lot of rock fans.

I see your Kokomo and raise you a Do It Again. The '60s weren't even over and nostalgia was already ruining the Beach Boys.

Shipbuilding by Elvis

Mull Of Kintyre by Wings

Cold Turkey by John Lennon

Like others said, In The Ether by the Who.

I've been playing Dusty In Memphis this morning and I just realized I almost always skip over Windmills of Your Mind. I don't hate the song, but when I was a kid it was covered by a lot of artists and was on some of the albums my mother played a lot. I think I simply overdosed on it.

I have a funny Cold Turkey story. I bought the 45 when it first came out. I was probably around 12 years old. My father thought it was about Heroin (it's about quitting cigarettes) & he made me return it to the local drug store where I bought it. I was crushed & Embarrassed.!
