I have a funny Cold Turkey story. I bought the 45 when it first came out. I was probably around 12 years old. My father thought it was about Heroin (it's about quitting cigarettes) & he made me return it to the local drug store where I bought it. I was crushed & Embarrassed.!

Actually, I always thought it was about Heroin too.

I seem to remember a Dick Van Dyke movie titled Cold Turkey about an entire town quitting smoking.

I hate "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone - that line "you give me hope to carry on" seems so desperately clingy as if she'd commit suicide if her lover did not enliven her - blitch.

I love Patti Smith but despised her rendition of "You Light...." on the Saturday morning kiddie program - hyeeeshhhh!!!! Her Detroit love made her so atypically sappy.

No, I heard a radio interview with Lennon years ago where he stated it was definitely about quitting smoking.
