Bannings: Who, me?
I just saw some clips on YouTube from the 70's TV special Chicago in the Rockies (1973?). I remember watching that when it aired. Pretty cool stuff. Does anybody know if it has ever been released on video?

By the way, I could swear that was Stephen Stills in the clip, grabbing some food at the bbq grill.

Was Terry Kath on guitar?

Hi Greg,
It's funny that you bring this subject up as I was just about to start a thread concerning the rumor of a Chicago DVD release. Word was beginning to spread less than a month ago that there is supposed to be a DVD coming out called Scrapbook: 1967-1977 covering the years Terry Kath was in the band before his tragic accidental death. I have it listed on my board as January 29th from Rhino. There has been no word yet on this release and it has me wondering if it is going to be a Rhino Handmade release which will be sprung upon us in the next couple of days or if something is now holding back the release. After this one is put out, later in the year, word has come about that a DVD of Chicago at some half-time performance at a football game with the Notre Dame marching band (do I have that correct, Renny?) that is supposedly legendary is coming out as well. If that one occurred during the Kath Era, then I'm in for that one as well. But things have gotten strangely quiet ever since the first little burst of activity concerning this release came to the fore and then quickly faded out behind the scenes.
To answer your question, Scrapbook, I would bet, will have at least something from the Chicago in the Rockies special on it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed these things will come out.

Geff,
Yep! Kath was an extraordinary guitar player. Non other than Jimi Hendrix himself was a big fan of his.

Any live Chicago with Kath is a must buy for me (well anything except that awful Pre-CBS Canadian recording that's been circulating for years!).

To me they became a totally different band after TK passed away.

We've made it to the 29th. I have not gotten any e-mails from Rhino on this or have seen anything else for that matter indicating this thing is coming out. I can only assume that this has been bumped or cancelled altogether. My gut tells me the latter more than the former.

I hadn't heard about the upcoming DVD. Let's hope it happens. The original Chicago was a great, great band that justifies that kind of release. I think there are a lot of us out here who would snap it up in a minute.
